    "Mole" Basics

Celebrity Mole Yucatan is a new season of The Mole series. Ananda Lewis, Mark Curry, Angie Everhart, Tracey Gold, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Dennis Rodman join returning players Stephen Baldwin and Corbin Bernsen, who hope to avenge their early Executions on Celebrity Mole Hawaii.

These Players are trying to add money to the pot by doing well in challenging physical and mental games. All the while they are trying to figure out who amongst them is The Mole, a double agent planted by the producers to sabotage the games. It is the goal of each Player to figure out the identity of The Mole, then learn as much about him or her as possible in order to do well on the Quiz at the end of each episode. The player that scores the lowest on each Quiz is Executed and must leave the game immediately. In the end, only one Player will walk away with all of the money in the pot, which could total up to $250,000! Emmy award-winning sportscaster Ahmad Rashad hosts the series.

    MOLE BASICS

THE MOLE: The Mole is posing as a Player, but in fact is secretly sabotaging games and the Players' attempts to add money to The Pot.

PLAYERS: The Players are the celebrities who are attempting to win the approximately $250,000 Pot by figuring out who The Mole is and doing well on quizzes all about the Mole.

THE POT: "The Pot" is the money earned by the Players during games. On the last episode, the Player that wins the game takes home the entire Pot of money.

QUIZ: At the end of each episode, Players take a quiz about The Mole and the Mole's activities. The closer a Player is to figuring out the identity of The Mole, the better they'll do on the Quiz, and the less likely they are to be Executed.

EXECUTION: At the end of each episode, the one player that does the worst on the Quiz is "Executed" and must leave the game immediately.

EXEMPTION: During the course of some games, a Player may have an opportunity to win an "Exemption", meaning they are exempt from being Executed during the next Execution, no matter what their score on the Quiz.

but what happens if a player guesses who the mole is before the end of the series?

Then they'll answer the quiz right, and will avoid elimination. The contestants do the quiz in secret, so nobody knows if they get their answers right or not. You just find out who got the lowest score on the quiz.

I had just typed out this complicated question and I hit a key and lost it.

Anyhoo, this seemed like the right place to speculate about quiz strategy.

Some of the questions give you the opportunity to vote for any of the players individually, like the question about which number journal the Mole took. If you don't know for sure who the Mole is, you only have a 1/8 chance of getting it correct. Other questions lump several players together in the same answer, like this one:
    6. What role did the mole play in the "Artifact or Fiction" game?
    Sold a real story Corbin
    Sold a false story Mark
The mole was not a salesperson Everyone else
So it seems like to maximize a guess you would vote for the third choice, since more players are grouped in that answer. On the other hand, if Corbin is the Mole a vote for him on this question would carry more weight if all the other players answered the safer third choice.

So my question is, is it better to decide who you think the Mole is and answer the entire quiz consistent with that choice? Or is it better to hedge your bets and go with "group" answer that includes more players?

Any thoughts? This is making my brain hurt.

I think this early on, you generalize and guess whichever has the most players in it just to narrow the group. Later on if you have the mole narrowed down you should take specific guesses and if your wrong your gone. But if your right you will know who the mole is and could win the game.

I would say it's better at this stage to answer quickly and spread your answers around a little. If you get the same number wrong as someone else, but you answer the quiz slower, you're the one eliminated.

Kathy Griffin's strategy last season was to take the quizzes extremely quickly. And in the second-to-last elimination quiz, she got the same number of questions wrong as someone else, but they were eliminated instead because of the timing.

Dunno if I'm misunderstanding the concept of the game or not..but, wasn't Kathy the mole? If she was the mole, she couldn't have been elimidated, right?

(I didn't watch the whole season, only watched a couple)

The supermodel was the Mole. Kathy was the winner, and the kid was the non-winner.
