If I remember right, the guy who won the last season of The Mole (non-celebrity version) said he did so because he just happened to guess correctly the first time he took the quiz, and then used an alliance to acquire all the info on her. Sounds like more luck than strategy.

That sounds like the first season.

In the second season, the genders were different than what you said, and the winner actually scored the lowest on one of the quizzes. Another contestant's voluntary departure from the game for $10,000... thus eliminating the need for an execution.
