A Dara/Alexander finale was no surprise; we saw that coming in the very first few challenges. Jack's dish looked dry; it was crying for sauce. A boned chicken breast is never stellar, no matter how well it is cooked. We didn't hear the judges say that because it would have been a dead give away that he would not move on. I think they made the right choice not only for the chicken dish in front of them but overall performance.

I am rooting for Dara. I love this kid.

This show is excellent; it will see a second season for sure. Eliminate the restaurant challenge and it is perfect.
I have done several eggs at a time and to hard boil it can take 10 to 15 minutes. I did look it up and soft boiled eggs usually take 3 to 4 minutes.

I am not a fan of chicken salad. I take that back....I only like the chicken salad that my former husband makes. I don't know exactly what he does, but it doesn't taste like chicken. I, obviously, divorced that when I divorced him.

I strongly suggest trying that boneless breast, seasoned, and sealed in foil. If you don't like it, give it to somebody's dog. It was shocking how good that was.

    Jack needed that recipe!

I have made chicken or turkey salad from leftovers and I put the chicken in the food processor to chop it finely to avoid getting those big pieces of cottony meat. When both dark and light meat are combined is better. I also add a little water to the mayo to thin it, just a touch. Grapes, walnuts and celery make it good, too.

I have read about 3 or 4 minute eggs and I have found that is way too little time. I have no clue how people do it. I have no desire to wait until the eggs are room temp, if that is the deal.

I'm glad that none of the young chefs went down the tired salad alley.

Jack didn't choose it for himself. Troy chose for everybody.

I am so sorry to see Jack go. He's going to be an excellent chef. And what a class act. All the time with the "thank you"s, even in the tag team challenge, every time his teammate offered a suggestion he would say thank you.

Thanks. So he chose the thigh for himself? Note to self: do not delete so you can post intelligently.

Correct. Troy won the soft boiled egg challenge, and his advantage was that he got to assign the chicken parts to each contestant. He picked the thigh for himself and gave the liver to Alexander, the wings to Dara and the breast to Jack.

Man, karma struck Troy back quick. After his bad behavior in the restaurant challenge, I can only call his raw chicken karmic justice. Even his presentation was kinda ugly, I don't agree with the judges liking the presentation of the dish.

That being said, I am extremely bummed that it's not Jack and Dara in the finale. Not that Alexander made a bad dish, it looked nice and rustic, but it wass too brown, needed a pop of color. Not to mention, he made a basic pate on garlic toast, which sounds way too simple for me, especially compared to Jack and Dara's astonishing dishes. To me, based on the entire competition, it should have been Jack and Dara in the finale, since Alexander did decline a bit and he's shown to not be very good under pressure.

At this point the judges' favoritism towards Alexander is so evident that unless he makes a big error in his final dishes, I am 100% sure he will win, no matter how amazing Dara's dishes are when compared to his. I don't dislike Alexander, but it's a bummer he's getting through in part out of favoritism.

I am not sure if Alexander is being unfairly moved along. He is a good cook. Making pate from the chicken livers required some skill in seasoning it. It is more than just chopping up livers and putting them on toast. All the judges commented on how good it was. Since the judges encourage these kids and keep the criticism down, Jack's chicken was probably dry; it looked like it. I think the correct two are in the finals.
