I agree. I used to enjoy seeing the softer side of Ramsey and even with the jerk judge they weren't as harsh because these are home chefs and I appreciated that. After the way they treated them this week this show is hanging by a thread for me.

I'm starting to think that Ben Starr is some sort of a set-up or a shoe-in for the next MasterChef. He's always portrayed as being supportive of every other chef (except perhaps "baddie" character Christian), takes risks with his cooking that pay off, gets quite a few interview/reaction shots each episode, and of course there's the easily trademarked homemade chef's hats. No one else seems to be getting such a positive edit, plus the usual drama of "Oh, no I've done thus and such wrong, Chef Ramsay is going to KILL me!" or the overblown reactions to just about everything.

I don't think he is a set up or shoo-in. I think he just has that dazzling outgoing personality that makes him likeable and photogenic and interviewable. I personally would like to meet him. He is probably great to be around most of the time.

I agree. I don't think anyone is set up to win on most of these shows, certainly not on the ones that involves competition and skill. The edit shows more of those who make good TV. I do think that when down to the last 3 some, consideration is given to who is better to keep for drama or interest though. Christian is a shoo in for keeping against another less interesting character in the bottom three, for sure. Ben too. I will go this far.

I like Jennifer and she is getting a positive edit, as well.

Just an FYI - Ben Starr has a GREAT website. Check it out and you'll see that what you see on TV is Ben being Ben!

Joe Bastianich is a total jerk! I love his mother and use many of her recipes. She must be ashamed of her son's behavior on this show. At first, I didn't realize who he was because he has lost about 50 lbs since I have seen him on his mother's show, Lidia's Italy. Sheesh, lighten up Joe! You ain't all that! and you would be NOTHING if not for your mother, so give these contestants the respect that they deserve. I bet he would not have made it on a show like this on his own (as a contestant), the only reason he is a judge is because of his connections through "mommy" Lidia.

Wow! I knew nothing about Joe so after reading this I Googled him (what did we do before Google??)

now we've all had our pudgy moments so I'm the last to say anything about his looks. But I will say that arrogance and below the belt cruelty is just not attractive, Mr. Bastianich.

Thanks for posting the link to his site. I especially like his recipe for a happy life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "Happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life. - John Lennon

Even in his appearances on his mother's show, he had this sense of arrogance about him. He would go on and on about wine and to be honest, the show is a cooking show not a wine show but I felt like he just wanted everyone to know about his knowledge of wine.
When his sister (who is a PHD) would appear on the show to talk about art, she was always so gracious and so likeable whereas her brother is just the opposite. He is probably one of those "I am the Italian son and I am superior" type people and I bet his wife must be so subservient!

I so wanted Christians' butt off the show!

How arrogant. Did anyone catch his interview where he said Jennifer screwed up the caramel, when we know damn well it was him.

The only thing I am really hating about the show is the amount of bleeping going on. Can't anyone speak without cussing?
