Was that you Carla? LOL From that one contestant I got such a "Carla from Worst Cooks" vibe. There have been some good cooks in the audition, but people call them chefs...why? I thought the title Chef came from working as a professional in a kitchen with promotion ranks.

26 year old US Army vet Howard is up first. He loves to cook and is very passionate.

    Re: MasterChef

He's from San Diego. Isn't everyone this season from San Diego?

Howard says grandma is his inspiration.

    He created a peach cobbler.

GR calls it charming, but comments on the use of alcohol.

Joe says it takes courage to audition with a dessert.

Looks like all three judges like it.

But, GR votes no because of the amount of alcohol.

Graham also says that the alcohol is too strong. But he votes yes.

Joe makes the deciding vote... and decides to walk out with Howard. They meet his grandma, and Joe gives Howard the apron. He's through.

Now we have a guy who made spaghetti, a firefighter, and a short ribs cook, who unfortunately burned it. Looks like all these people are gone.

Next up is a carpenter. I missed his name. Johnny?

    Re: MasterChef

Whoever he is made a lobster dish.

He tells GE that he's a lot smaller in person than he thought he would be. GE responds with "the camera adds about 180 pounds."

The judges huddle and talk about his dish.

GR doesn't seem to like it and... commecial.

    Re: MasterChef

    We're back, and yep, he's Johnny, and he's 28.

He mixed popcorn with the lobster.

GR now calls it intriguing and says it actually worked. He votes yes.

Joe also votes yes. GE votes yes as well.

Johnny gets three yeses and is through.

Looks like the auditions are over and the next round starts right now. Among the successes we haven't seen is a pastor and a model. We'll see how they do.

There's a Nanci we haven't seen. Jordan says he feels like some of the people who got an apron didn't deserve it. How would he know?
