There was another guy who many of us noticed a bit earlier in the competition who was gay, who seemed much funnier than Ant.
The producers deserve tons of flack--some for corruption, some for bad managment of the whole "voting" situation and false advertising, but this is one they might not totally deserve.
Oh, I think it's probable that the house is as it is partially due to intentional diversity. But they had other options to fill that particular "diversity" slot. In the end, Ant went in because he's got friends. Friends who will make money if he becomes a star.
