NBC Reality Show Seeks Funniest Person

NBC Reality Show Seeks Funniest Person

    Thu Dec 5,12:55 PM ET

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) - It's time for class clowns to prove themselves.

NBC's starting the search for comedians to be players in its new reality show, "Last Comic Standing: The Search for the Funniest Person in America."

The first auditions are Dec. 15 in Chicago at "Blue Chicago." They'll be in seven cities total, ending in January.

The 10 finalists will then live together in a house and compete for the ultimate prize a contract with the Peacock network.

Comedian Jay Mohr will play host and producer of "Last Comic Standing." In August, ESPN pulled the plug "Mohr Sports." Mohr, who infused the show with salacious content, was recruited by Disney's ESPN from Fox Sports Net.

He later co-starred in the comedies "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" and "Simone."

Here's the rest of the audition schedule: Dec. 18 in St. Louis; Jan. 5 in Atlanta; Jan. 8 in Houston; Jan. 12 in San Francisco; Jan. 16 in New York; and Jan. 23 in Los Angeles.

"Last Comic Standing: The Search for the Funniest Person in America."
Ugh, another one of those titles I hate.
The winner of this show will end up being dubbed "the funniest person in America" - which they clearly will not be.
If the voting is opened to the public the winner might not even be the funniest person on the show.
I hate it when shows make those type of claims.

Having said that, I think this show will probably be a lot of fun.
Certainly worth a look anyway, specially if some of them are really dire.

I really enjoy stand-up comedy, even the really bad ones. This will be worth a watch. I'm not a big fan of Jay Mohr, though. But he CAN be funny, sometimes. It's just that whenever he's not knocking them dead, he resorts to his tired Christopher Walken impression. That was funny the first 100 times I saw it.

    Here's a funny joke I heard

"Recent polls show that 70% of the country is getting
sick of reality TV, they also show that 30 % of the country
    is ON reality TV."

I completely agree. In fact I'm afraid he'll ruin it for me, even though I'm very much looking forward to the show. Still going to give it a shot though.

Jay Mohr has only one bit, and it's his Christopher Walken imitation. Which was funny as heck the first time I saw it. The following 5,386 times, though, not so great.

I HATE JAY MOHR! He's not funny, but I'll try to ignore him like Joey Fatone on Fame.

I think Mohr has also been hilarious when he's been on Jim Rome's radio show.

If I were him, I'd be trying to shoot the publicist that touted the fact that he was in Pluto Nash and Simone; both were big-time dogs.
