LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC was laughing all the way to the Nielsen bank Tuesday with the two-hour premiere of yet another summer reality series, "Last Comic Standing."
NBC won the night by a wide margin, but Fox won the first hour of primetime with the second week of "American Juniors," which averaged 8.7 million viewers and 3.4 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. At 9 p.m., the second episode of police drama "Keen Eddie" (5.2 million, 2.3/7) struggled to hang on to "Juniors"' coattails.
NBC dominated from 9-11 p.m. with "Last Comic Standing" averaging 9.7 million viewers and 4.5/13 in adults 18-49. The standup comedy competition series, hosted by Jay Mohr (news), built solidly throughout its time slot, starting out at 9 p.m. with 8.9 million viewers and 3.9/11 and finishing out with 10.1 million, 4.8/14 in the final half-hour.
ABC and CBS were pretty much out of the game with reruns of their regular lineups. NBC led the night with an average of 9 million viewers and 4.0/12 in 18-49. ABC followed in total viewers (7.6 million) while Fox placed second in adults 18-49 (2.9/9).
