    Original Cast vs. JoeShmoe2 Cast

I'm hoping JS2 gets better. Really MKG made the first show with his emotionalness and good character. Ingrid has some of these qualites, but a there's no way a former budwieser girl could ever be called an "Average" Jane or Jane Shmoe.

You have to remember that MKG had just dropped out of law school, was living in his parents basement and delivering pizzas. Basically a loser, with a heart of gold. It was very easy to root for MKG, especially with the way he handled himself on the show.

Both Tim and Ingrid seem to be in a better situation career wise. And Tim's insecure smarmy attitude makes him unlikeable.

As far as the cast is concerned, the JS1 cast blows the JS2 cast out of the water. I dunno if this was becasue the cast became so emotionally invested in MKG and bonded, or if it's because the cast was better to begin with.

Ashley was great. The new Bitch, I haven't seen enough of to make an acting assesment.

Molly was outstanding. The Jessica Simpson Clone is boring me to death with her wooden acting.

Kip was amazing. The Canadian gay guy is doing pretty well but no one could top Kip.

Hutch brought alot of energy to the table. The psycho guy is probably the best guy in the cast so far.

Earl added a bit of credibility and age to the show. The fat Gallo son is a paperweight cardboard cut out actor.

    Gina was horrible.

Dr. Pat was okay, not great. The Weeper is doing a pretty good job with her weeping, I'm impressed.

Brian was a key component. There's no insider like that on this show.

Really they hit a homerun with JS1, thanks primarily to Matt. JS2 is hitting a slow roller to first base.

I can't really disagree with your assessment of the first schmoe (MKG -- yes he is a loser) but I do disagree with your assessments of the Schmoe 2 show and the other actors.

The actors on the first show were horrid, the acting in Schmoe 2 is head and shoulders above Schmoe 1. Schmoe 2 has had me laughing so hard I've been in tears watching the show the fourth time. The only person on Schmoe 2 who is over the top was Rita, but she was funny as hell so I don't care.

If it wasn't for MKG the first season would have blown... the actors are good enough on the second season to carry the show even if the schmoes were cardboard cutouts. I really like the fact that the Schmoes in Schmoe 2 aren't moronic losers who can't think themselves out of a wet paper bag, it brings the whole quality of the show up.

    Interesting, DB.

Which actors do you think are doing better than in the First JoeShmoe. I'd like to hear your opinions.

I think the Stalker is great, and the gay Canadian is okay and I like the weeper.

What are your thoughts on the Jessica Simpson clone. Personally I think she's horrible. And if the acting is so great how come Ingrid has already figured out that someting fishy is going on. True, Ingrid's a lot brighter than MKG, but still if the actors are giving a somewhat credible performance, you'd think she wouldn't catch on so quickly.

I don't think the first cast would have stood up with 2nd season's Jane Schmo. She's too suspicious, and some of the stuff that happened last year would have blown it for sure. Tim seems to be enjoying himself too much to notice the glaring errors that Ingrid pounces on everytime.

Let me start by saying that I loved the first season of Joe Schmoe (I plan on buying the DVD), this is not a slam at Schmoe 1 or the people involved.

All of them, the only person I thought did a half-decent job on Schmoe 1 was the guy that played Hutch, and Ralph (who, surprise surprise, is back for season 2).

I'm getting confused, are you talking about the characters or the actors that play them? The guy playing Bryce is doing a wonderful job, I think Tim's afraid to be in a room alone with him. Jonathan is doing a good job with the Gerald character, playing the "Gotta be Gay Guy" requires a lot of subtlety and I think he's "sowing the seeds of gay" quite well.

Jessica (as Eleanor) was fantastic on episode 2, I totally bought her weepage. I was talking about the show with a buddy and he mentioned (and I had the same experience) that he's watching the show and really feeling sorry for Eleanor and had to stop and slap himself because she's an actress!!!

I'd like to go on record here and state that I don't know who Jessica Simpson is (and I don't care so please don't waste space her telling me about her, if I was interested I could look her up on the internet), but I've heard her name used in connection with Cammy a few times so I assume she's some kind of dumb blonde. I'm not big on the Cammy character (can you say Britney from Daria?), but I think Jana is doing a good job with it. Let me ask you, she's supposed to be playing a stereotypical dumb blonde, what part of her performance makes her look intelligent?

Because she's smart. Because the characters have to be outrageous for the show to be funny. If the characters were all normal people there would be no point to the show, you want the Schmoes exclaiming "What's going on?"

Cammy (the character) is a lot brighter then MKG (sorry Mike, but it's true). Ingrid's paranoia was peaked in the first ten minutes of the show when the day actor/model said the show found her through her agent the previous day. Ingrid's personality is the type that doesn't just accept things at face value, she's seen Reality TV shows before she knows there are twists, spys, moles, etc. and she's on the lookout for it. So of course she's found evidence that something is going on, but I doubt she's even close to figuring it out. If they interviewed her and asked her about her suspicions I seriously doubt she would say "I think everyone except Tim is an actor". She's knows something is going on but I don't think she has a clue to what it is.

I bet Tim thinks something is going on too, but he's more laid back then Ingrid and content to just let it happen.

I think Steve did a good job with the Ernie character, check Tim and Ingrid's expressions as he gave his final speech, they were both touched by it. I haven't seen enough of Jon to form a real opinion of his ability but from the little we have seen I think he's done a good job with the T.J. character. Hopefully his character will be getting more screen time in later episodes.

Gretchen has done a good job with the Ambrosia character, I hate her already. Natasha as Rita is the only person I thought went over the top, not so much in how drunk she was acting, but how fast she got there. I don't understand why she was hiding drinks though, why wasn't the bartender just giving her non-alcoholic drinks?

I can't really comment on Tim H. and Valerie's performances because the Austin and Piper characters haven't been given much screen time to interact with Ingrid or Tim. We had the Ingrid/Austin hot tube date but the show concentrated on the Bryce stalker plot and we really have no idea what happened there other than it happened. Hopefully Austin and Ingrid, and Piper and Tim will get some alone time in future episodes.

Ralph is doing a good job with the Derek Newcastle character, he's treading that fine line between being serious about his job and annoyed at the ridiculous things he has to say.

[HUMOUR]Ace is doing a terrific job as Derek's nemesis, Monticore. I watched carefully and I don't think that was a stunt-falcon that crashed into the door. I totally buy that Monitor and Derek hate each other but I bet Ace and Ralph go out for beers and field mice after work, they probably take Tyler with them. Speaking of Tyler, there's the only actor that I think is wooden. I haven't seen him do anything other than sit there and stare.[/HUMOUR]

I do think that this year's actors are much better than last years. But I do think that Ashleigh and Hutch were great last year. The only terrible actor last year was Gina.

This year, I really like Ambrosia, Eleanor, Bryce, Cammy, and T.J.

I think those five are definetly the best actors on the show.

Ambrosia telling off Ingrid was excellent, as was Eleanor's crying. Everything Bryce does is great.

The actors that play Cammy and TJ are really good at improvising. Cammy's "Who'se Madeleine Albright?" and TJ's whole teabags things were hilarious and made Ingrid/Tim see their characters' personalities.

Joe Schmo 2 vs the 1st Season

Is anyone feeling that Joe Schmo 2 is not lving up to what Joe Schmo 1 was? I loved the first season, but this one... I just can't seem to get into it.

I don't think that it's the cast that's bad (except for Cammy/Jana), I think that it's the writing that has been waaaay out in left field.

I think they are just trying to hard to be wacky. The porn story was not needed at all.

Also, in comparing the Schmo's, MKG was much more of a likeable character than these two combined.

    Agreed.

Also, Matt has a lot more quotable quotes:

"What is going on?" (the signature line used in SpikeTV's show's credits now)
"You can hold me in violation of my contract"
"I'm just a guy from Pittsburg"
    "Are you an actor?"
