I'd play a game for a $100,000 prize. It's better than nothing!! $$$$$ in my eyes.

Wholeheartedly agree... Joe Schmo needs it's own post.

Personally thought it was hilarious. Couldn't have gotten a bigger sap for the mark than that - without his obnoxious ways, the show would be a bust... The look on the production crews faces were priceless when he was first to drop out of "hooker" challenge. And, also him knowing who the pornstar was when she dropped her top, made him seem even more desperate.

    Should be a fun ride.

We'll see how it goes. So far, there are about 50 actual posts of discussion about it, and 25-30 requests for it to have its own forum. That's not really much "support". But if people are truly talking about the show, and it is getting good response, we may create a dedicated forum for it.

I just meant it had a lot of links for episode 1 at the "sirlinksalot" site, thats how I found the fort (with a LCS link). Schmo just needs an official recap cuz it does seem to have some buzz ... anyone know what rating the premier got by any chance?

I was sent the Joe Schmo info that I posted here directly by a Spike TV publicist via e-mail, so perhaps we could do something further with them. We'll see. There was little interest among our writing staff to cover the show, though. But maybe we can get something going.

Thanks, John. I initially asked why it didn't have a board because I actually don't know what qualifies for one and what doesn't. I'd still be interested in knowing what criteria shows have to fill....if you have a second...

I think that's WHY it's funny. It's so over the top-so much so that the whole point is to watch and think "There is NO WAY this guy can not know." But I think he doesn't...and that's why it's funny. He's always got this look on his face like he's just about two thoughts away from the truth.

In the same way that The Truman Show was interesting, it's also interesting to see what the actors do to compensate when "Joe" does something unexpected. And, because I used to act for a living, this show TOTALLY cracks me up because I've been in those actor's shoes.

AND...seriously, I think they hired the worst possible actors, just for entertainment value.

It's a show you have to take at face value, call it an acquired taste for some (like The Daily Show, for example...never really liked it but I can see why people think it's funny that they do spoof news items on people who think it's for real...) and change the channel if you don't enjoy. Thank goodness for Cable!

Good point on the comparison to The Truman Show. And also agree that they are forcing everything over the top - acting, challenges, atmosphere, etc... makes it that much more absurd and hilarious. The actors run hot and cold imo. Cracks me up watching a bleach blonde, fake-chested VIRGIN?!?! Speaking of over-the-top, what about Hutch picking his nose at the dinner table? Ludicrous, but genius.

Still think they did an absolute perfect job w/casting this one guy (from a pool of hundreds). Come on, maybe they are pulling one over on us, a law school dropout who moved back in w/his parents and delivers pizzas...pathetic.

The requirements aren't exactly set in stone....But roughly:

    1) One of our staff members volunteers to recap
    2) We think it'll actually stay on the air through the whole run
    3) We think there will be a moderate amount of interest from our members
    4) How many other shows are airing in the same time frame

I have a hard time qualifying this as a reality show, to tell you the truth. It's more like a serialized version of Punk'd. Sure, it's unscripted for one of the participants, but does that make it reality?
