I saw him on the show last night performing the song and thought his rendition wasn't all that bad actually. I do remember him saying something about never wanting or going to ever perform that song in public, something like that from Surreal Life. But then again, the money is going to charity, so maybe he is just growing up and wanted to do a good thing...plus it keeps him in the spotlight.

    Lyrics to Survivor:

    Verse:
    Itís not about the industry
And itís not about the things that Iíve been through
    Like Naz and Jay-Z
See, Iíve seen a lot things on the road to destruction
Addicted to this rap game standin up and bustin
This ainít a comeback this ainít a second comin
We took a real loss when Dimebag stopped strummin
    Americas in trouble
    And hip-hop is dyin
They said some things about me, now the rap game is done

    Chorus:
    Iím a survivor
    Iíve been around the block
    Iím a survivor
Iím coming out of the box
    Iím a survivor
And yet you know I wonít stop
    Iím a survivor
Iíve got this game on lock
    Iím a survivor
What you got? What you got?
    Iím a survivor
What you got? What you got?
    Iím a survivor
You donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it

    Verse:
    From sold-out stages
    To seconds from my life
    To rollin with Madonna
    To wrecking on my bike
    And somethingís I regret
    And some I donít
    Somethingís Iíll take back
    And some I wonít
I went from style of the 90ís
    To Dickies and (Sheldo???)
No Matter what Iím wearin Iím still in a hell hole
Scapes to a side from that gun on my dresser
Looking to my daughters eyes that relieves the pressure

    Chorus:
    Iím a survivor
    Iíve been around the block
    Iím a survivor
Iím coming out of the box
    Iím a survivor
And yet you know I wonít stop
    Iím a survivor
Iíve got this game on lock
    Iím a survivor
What you got? What you got?
    Iím a survivor
What you got? What you got?
    Iím a survivor
You donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it, you donít want it

So basically the only thing the same from his version and Destiny's Child was the line "I'm a Survivor."

The rules are they can do whatever they want to the song, so he did follow them.

yeah, i seen that on the surreal life too. he was really upset that he was made fun of. he said the baggy pants and the hair was not really him. the music industry decided to changed his image. he was young and went along with it. he was and is still being ridicule for it.

but it's great that all the anger is finally gone and he's cool with performing the song again. he did a awesome job last night. i am glad he made the destiny's child song different. i love this guy when i was younger and i still do.
