What happened to sous chef Mary Ann?

It looks like they replaced Mary Ann Salcedo, the sous chef from seasons 1-3, with a new female chef named Gloria. Judging from her complete lack of speech in the premiere episode, I'm wondering whether she's actually mute or just pretending for some mysterious reason.

Anybody know why Mary Ann isn't back for season four?

She talked at one point, telling the girls that they were going too slow. I guess they decided the needed someone more assertive, since after all, Mary Ann was known for being "silent but deadly"

Did she?? I could have sworn I didn't see her at all. Chef introduced Gloria as his sous-chef for the girls this season. Was that just a one time thing? I liked Mary Ann!

Apparently she left to become executive chef at a restaurant called NeoMeze in Pasadena.

Thanks for the information. How sad, but good for her.
