They made the law because it is such a common occurrence. Whatever words they use, age discrimination is what it boils down to.
Potential doesn't have anything to do with age. Longevity often refers to life-span but it doesn't have to; Ramsay could, for example, have been referring to Petrozza's longevity in his kitchen (if he had been chosen as the winner). I don't recall him using the word longevity, anyhow (I do remember the reference to potential).

I think a big factor in Petrozza's not winning is that Ramsay perceived him as too nice/easy-going.

But this is a reality show we're talking about. A real, every day restaurant, I can see why they would not be over stocked on an item, not wanting to waste food.

Surely we've all seen enough episodes with Ramsey screaming about waste in the kitchen to know that throwing away food, particularly expensive food, will not curry his favor. We're not talking about overstocking an item, we're talking about over preping an item. An overstock of lobster can be sold to or used in anther restaurant. An over preped item like lobster will, more than likely, be thrown away. That goes against the very core of any successful chef. It would also go against the grain of a seasoned cook like Petrozza.

I was expecting Petrozza to win and I was shocked when Christina won instead.

The Diners of the restaurant will be losers. If Petrozza had won he may have with his filth factor been the cause of someone ending up ill at the restaurant.

Christina is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I swear when I see her I can hear the rusty gears that are supposed to be here brains struggling to work. I don't see Christina having enough skill or savvy to run a kitchen in a restaurant. Thinking for herself is taxing enough on her.

I disagree. Christina may not be a rocket scientist but IMO she showed thinking and planning abilities. In the challenge where family members came for a meal, Christina was the only one who even considered the possibility that a challenge would follow from it - and her deconstructing the dish during the meal with her parents gave her an edge (and she did win).

I also think her choice of a simple menu was a smart move. During the season, most of the dishes served in Hell's Kitchen are fairly simple. Heck, how many times did we see risotto not cooked properly.

On the other hand, Christina did burn Chef Ramsey twice by leaving the pan handle over the flame. Not too bright in that case, I'll admit.

Re: 7/08 Season Finale Discussion Thread ***SPOILERS***

There is no way in "Hell's Kitchen" that Cristine will be able to function as Executive Chef in a high powered restaurant like the one Chef Ramsey is opening in West Hollywood. She is only half way thru her culinary course, never worked in a reastaurant and has few skills cooking period. This was by far the least qualified group of contestants on this reality show since the first season. Do you think he'd actually pay Christine or Petrozza for that matter $250,000 a year to function as Executive Chef. This show has a great gimmack of finding out after the show is over that the winner is not qualified and ultimately offers them an apprenticeship or lessor job.

Re: 7/08 Season Finale Discussion Thread ***SPOILERS***

That seems to be exactly what happened, because when the restaurant opened a couple of weeks ago, news articles mentioned that the winner was going to be "Executive Sous Chef", not Executive Chef.

Probably the highest paid sous chef in the world (for one year, anyway).

Velociraptors also show thinking and planning abilities also and I don't want one of them cooking a meal for me in a high end restaurant as an exe chef either. I would feel better with Julia or that Nanny they had from the previous season. This crop of contestants lacked anything of value.

Well I think out of Christina & Patrozza, the right person won. I, personally, think that Corey should have won the whole show though. Oh well.

And good ol' Jen & Matt irritated the life out of me yet again.
