Gotti Dapper Debut
August 4, 2004 --
'GROWING Up Gotti" de livered gangbuster rat ings for A&E in its Monday-night debut.
The "real-life series" about Victoria Gotti and her three sons drew 3 million viewers for its first (9:30 p.m.) episode — the highest-rated series premiere in A&E history.
The second episode, which aired at 10 p.m., drew 3.5 million viewers. The series also notched record demo numbers for A&E (adults 18-49 and adults 25-54).
Gotti, a novelist and columnist, is the daughter of the late John Gotti. She lives in a Long Island mansion with sons Frank, Carmine and John.
A&E originally ordered 13 episodes of "Growing Up Gotti" — and immediately ordered seven additional episodes yesterday after the show's numbers came in.
"We'll consider doing even more [episodes]," A&E executive VP/GM Abbe Raven told The Post. "We were always very bullish on the series — we knew we had a buzzworthy program, and that's been justified by the numbers."
A&E will repeat episodes 1 and 2 Sunday at 10 and 10:30 p.m.
The next new episode of "Growing Up Gotti" airs this Monday at 9:30 p.m. — Michael Starr
