DiSalvatore - Yonkers, NY

Silvio and Amy have been married for over 20 years. Silvio, a stay-at-home dad, rocks a distinct '80s look. He is the driving force behind the loud East Coast Italian-American family. Amy, a medical insurance administrator, is a classic Italian mom who will do anything for her boys. Mason, the diplomat, is the only "normal" member of the outrageous family. With aspirations of becoming a lawyer, Mason gets his fair share of practice settling family disputes. Blake is a Silvio-in-training who has never been unplugged from his video games for more than three days.

I think Dad is in a time warp, and could be a jerk. Can't help but wonder if he identifies with The Fonz, a bit.

I knew I had seen this guy before. He got a makeover on the MIke and Juliet show by Beth Stern (Howard Stern's wife) a few months ago. The video is out there, but I don't know how to link it.

What a walking talking stereotype "Dad DiSalvatore" is.

Hint to people from other parts: 90% of New Yorkers are nothing like this. If he's a cliche, it's one passed on more by TV and movies than reality.

Most New Yorkers don't actually pronounce it "Nu Yawk". Or snidely dismiss the rest of the world in every sentence. Or wear leopard print sweat pants. Or talk THAT loud. Or have whatever its called when a mullet grows out even further.

And his screechy wife? Almost as bad.

Heck, even amongst the New York Italian American community, good ol' Silvio seems pretty far out there as an extreme.

I was flipping channels last night and saw a few minutes. OMG.
If that were my father, I'd be totally embarassed. I think he's only indicative of those people who like to see themselves on the screen and don't care how bad the portrayal is.

This is the best team this show has. When these guys get eliminated, this show will lose one of its few bright spots. The parents are a hoot. As crazy as they are, they entertain me so much. The parents should have tried out for TAR instead of this show.

This family annoys the hell out of me, the constant harping and screaming at each other gets on my last nerve. I can't wait for them to get the boot.
