I LOVE it!!!!
Wish I could have seen it too.

Re: For animal lovers

I haven't posted in a while about my baby girl, who is going to be a year already She is the most adorable thing ever. She is about 80 lbs and sleeps in the bed with us. She is in the middle at the bottom, then in the morning she crawls up in between us and pust her head on my pillow. It is so friggin cute. She is definitely a daddy's girl, but I'm with her most of the time. She has brought so much joy to my life and has taken my mind off trying to conceive (not much, but a little)

Here's a picture of her from the last snow storm we had. I'll have to take some new ones and post them

Re: For animal lovers

I'm going to preface this post by saying I was looking at the local animal shelter poster yesterday and every single (about 20) picture of adoptable cats had a bright orange "adopted" banner across it. We love having kittens and never have trouble placing them, but our queen (long haired white) is getting old so we kept a female with siamese markings last year so we could retire (get fixed) the older one. Well, we have our first litter of 3 from the new mom and at first it looked like it was 2 white and 1 black which surprised me. But now the white ones are showing siamese markings! They are not the light taupe color of most siamese - they are white with siamese markings! Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I'm expecting a high demand for these when they're ready to go just in time for summer vacation.

Re: For animal lovers

Last night we had a huge lecture by somewhat of a state personality, Rudy Mancke. He has had a nature show on PBS for years that has been syndicated in other states: NatureScene, but I digress (fabulous program by the way)

Anyway, after working the event, I dropped my friend off at her house at about 11. We all had been given the food leftovers (so nice) and I was helping her in the house with all her stuff and was going to use her bathroom before heading home. Well, her dog had a seizure, lost control of his bodily functions and was having a hard time breathing. This happened almost as soon as we walked in the door.
I got her daughter to get a blanket, got the car started, doors opened, got everyone in the car and headed to the ER vet. We were there until amost 1 this morning. But she was so upset, I knew she couldn't drive.
The dog is 16, he has a brain tumor and a tumor in his mouth. They kept him last night, sedated him, but now she has to make the hard decision about what to do. His name is Shadow.
I feel so badly for her and her daughter and for poor Shadow.

I just hate to see stuff like this happen. It's heartbreaking

Re: For animal lovers

An article about feeding your dogs "people food" and what foods are bad for them. Everyone knows about chocolate, but did you'all know onions, walnuts, raisins and grapes are very bad?

Gutmutter, all siamese are born white, and the markings get bigger and darker with age. The body usually gets a lot darker with age too, especially if the markings are brown ("seal point") The blue and lilac point kitties are more likely to have a light body color as adults. Another odd fact I've noticed--if there is a mix of 'anything else' with Siamese, I've never seen a litter without at least one black kitten. (Of course you know cats can have multiple dads for litters, but I've always seen the black kitty even in litters where Mom is a Meeze and we KNOW the only unfixed Tom was an orange
one)

I love kittens too, but in this state there arent tens, but thousands of cats in shelters. Still, I think when my 2 are gone, or if I get stupid (er) instead of a 'senior' cat I might pick another un-adoptable kind--a pregnant kitty someones dumped. that way I could foster the babies without feeling guilty! I always feel so sad for the mommy cats that have a whole litter of kittens in the cage at the shelter, or are burstingly pregnant. You just know Momcat is doomed.

On a brighter note, I'm finally at long last able to leave BooBoo and Rocky out together, at least when I'm at home. It's still not great, but they aren't fighting every four minutes anymore, and Rocky isn't getting paralized by fear too much.
