| Re: For animal lovers Thank you all for the kind words. I just talked to her and she was really down which is to be expected. I did manage to get her to laugh a bit telling Honey stories, remembering good times. She got a chuckle out of my comments about Honey outlasting a couple of husbands and serious relationships. ![]() Here's Honey last year with their guinea pig Peanut. ![]() | |

| 1 Month, 28 Days,11 Hours | Re: For animal lovers Unk: I'm so sorry that your friend has to help her beloved Honey to Rainbow Bridge. What a terribly tragedy! I'm sure you are providing your friend with much comfort at this very sad and emotional time. Honey looks so sweet with that little guinea pig! Hugs and prayers to you both ![]() gabriel: Thanks. I don't have Pepto Bismal in the house. Nor do I have kaopectate. myrosiedog: Thanks for that link. I didn't give Mr. Tootles anything yet, but I will call the vet tomorrow so I can leave any instructions with Grandpa while he babysits. It was a beautiful day and I think it made my big boy tooty-wootys a bit happier. And naughty naughty finger=wags to you for forgetting Bogie's birthday! You must acknowledge it with something so Bogie doesn't get a complex or anything.

| Re: For animal lovers Did anyone here watch the Kentucky Derby yesterday? I'm not a big horse lover (I'm intimidated by them) but they are gorgeous animals. It broke my heart yesterday when they had to put Eight Belles down...the only filly in the race and right after running the race of her life against those male horses (and coming in 2nd place!!!!!!) they had to euthanize her out on the track because she broke both of her front ankles. The vet said it was a freakish accident and he had never heard of it happening but there wasn't any other option because she didn't have the front legs to stand on for support. One minute I'm cheering her on and the next minute I'm sitting there bawling in front of the TV because they had to put her down. I know it was the humane thing to do but all I could think about was how exhilarated she must have felt knowing she had done well in the race and then to suddenly be in excruciating pain and not understand what was going on.....it makes me cry again just thinking about it...... ![]()

| Re: For animal lovers It is always so sad to see a beautiful animal having to go out that way. I'm glad she came in a winner. I can never, ever watch that one commercial with the sara McLachlin song. it just tears me up. |

| FORT Fogey | Re: For animal lovers I love horses and hope one day to own one again. I love watching the Derby and yesterday was just horrible. I too felt so badly for Eight Belles and her owners/trainers/jockey and fans. Poor thing. I hope she didn't suffer too much.
