I've seen some of the web pages describing the horrible behavior problems encountered in declawed cats, and I have to say I believe the authors are trying to further their cause of outlawing declawing by attributing any and all problems to the procedure. I've seen just as many, in fact more, neurotic kitties with claws, and I'm sure other people here can also share that declawed cats are not generally these poor heartbroken creatures the animal rights people depict. I even saw one website that discourage even adopting cats that are already declawed. I sure don't understand that at all! The given reason? "look how many 'normal' cats desparately need a home". ![]() it's weird how these same folks will describe cats that have been hit by cars, near eaten by dogs, etc. or whatever as now being such wonderful pets, but claim declawing does all this horrible stuff. Anyway, off of the soapbox now!

| Re: For animal lovers The boys are declawed and they are fine. My boy Tigger made it 17 years before having kidney failure and Cinnamon made it 15 years. I'm not here to debate the merits of declawing as it is a personal decision. I'm just putting to rest the "not clean" myth.

| Re: For animal lovers I'm not going to debate it either, as my position is to not declaw and as you may recall both Mona & Joey were declawed against my wishes while I was working one day, but as for the cleaning -both of them were and Joey continues to be spring time fresh. |

| Re: For animal lovers Clean, well-groomed declawed gurls here! And I'd adopt a declawed baby in a minute. And, as with people, you never know which one is going to be neurotic.

He has made a HUGE pest of himself trying to get to the Easter basket. And the dog treats are only temporarily distracting him. He has spring fever bad this week! That's the only explanation for his extra exuberant behavior! Miss Rosie was a very bad girl last night and got on the table which she NEVER does and ate some chicken wing bones. I was freaking out, but she seems ok so far. She was NOT giving them up either. Those jaws were clamped shut. Hubby joked that we'd need the car jack to pry them open. ![]()
