I just got back from my vacation in Phoenix and have 2 cats glued to me and purring like crazy. I was gone one week and my daughter stopped by to check on them. She said she saw them in the window when she pulled up and they would hide when she came in.
I like that about laurel & hardy unklescott. Watch the "warden" pull up and then disappear.

Re: For animal lovers

We had a funny thing happen yesterday... my Little Sister and I were walking my dog (Japanese Chin) around a lake in a park nearby. If nobody else is there with a dog, I let him run free with the leash on me just in case. When we got to the skate park, one of the daughters from the family we got him from 6 years ago was there and called out, "Taro!". He heard her and took off running in the opposite direction with his tail between his legs, clear up over the wall and up the hill to the baseball diamonds. I've never seen him have that reaction ever before. Makes me wonder about his life before we took him off their hands.

As well as can be expected. My Dad doesn't show emotion as do the rest of us (I think it had something to do with growing up in WWII England and seeing a 9 yr old buddy of his get blown up by a bomb.)

Mom is holding up about the same as I was when Mona passed on.

Missy was adopted 12 years ago in June when my Dad retired at 62, because he said it wouldn't be fair to have a creature that needs attention and left home all day.

She had such a good dispositon and just loved to be brushed and have her tummy rubbed. When she was a pup my Dad & I used to "irritate" my Mom by making Missy "sing". We would both be sitting there doing our version of ARRROOOOO, then Missy would join in.

My mother always said "Oh for heavens sake" you two.

Then at about 8 months old Missy had some type of digestive problem and Mom started cooking sweet potato, green beans, beef, chicken, rice, and broth to settle her tummy (It wasn't all combined, it was a variety such as the potato with beef and green beans, or the chicken with rice and green beans.)and it was only in the last year that Missy would even allow Mom to put "dog food" in with the lunch or dinner. My Dad used to complain that his dinner was a cheese sandwich while Missy had chicken and rice with broth and green beans.

Max the cat is walking around sitting in Missys spots, but knowing Max, he will adapt and enjoy being an only child like Joseph.

Damn I hate getting older.

oh I know! - I am just so glad that the past 12 years I have gotten really close to my parents and my Uncle moved back here a few years ago from Baldwin. Our group of critters grows yet smaller, but we have nothing but wonderful memories to keep us warm.

I hope that the fun memories of Missy will make her loss a little bit easier to bear for you and your family. Our thoughts are with you.
