Re: For animal lovers

Poor kitty Gutmutter. Have you pursued getting Frosti back yet?

Now onto Joeys checkup from yesterday
--- -- He went from 15.8 pounds in September to 16.4 yesterday and I asked if it could be "winter" weight - Dr. looked at me and smiled and said "Does daddy have "winter" weight too? No Paul, Joey does not gain winter weight - cut down on the dry food. Ok so heres the rest- On March 27 he needs to go back to have 2 teeth removed because of cavities and she will be checking his scent glands while he is under, because of the touchyness of his one back leg.(Because as I believe it was Rattus who brought this up, that even neutered boys can get clogged scent glands)

Otherwise all is fine - bloodwork good, lungs sound ok, heart sounds ok. overweight by about 2-3 pounds. Daddy overweight by - ooops my checkup is not until April 3....

Well that's good news. Hope the teeth removal and scent gland thing go well.
Poor Joey and his winter weight. I hope he is trim and svelte by bathing suit weather. Dad too!

Thanks all for the well wishes on Rosie's birthday. She had a great day and enjoyed even more queen status than usual.

Re: For animal lovers

Gabriel: I'm so glad that Joey's checkup went well.

Henry is headed to the vet (we refer to it as the spa) early in the morning for his annual checkup, shots and the dreaded nail clipping. He's also facing a weigh-in and the vet has already said that if he is over 20 lbs, he will need to go on a diet. Henry is not fond of visiting the vet (or of dieting) but he'll be fine once he gets home and finds out that his "Uncle Rick" will be visiting for part of the weekend. Uncle Rick likes to grill stuff. Henry likes to watch.

Spa.

Sorry, but I just think that is hilarious.

Um, I like grilling too. I'd come "watch" Uncle Rick at the grill tonight with Henry.

Re: For animal lovers

I believe I mentioned, some time back, that we had two stray cats who had figured out how to get through the locking cat flap. One of them, Marty, causes no trouble. She comes in, has a bite, wanders around a little and then leaves. The other one, Lincoln, is big trouble. He has sprayed the entire perimeter of the house, and nearly everything in it. Well anyway, this past Tuesday, we trapped him in the house (he is far too skittish to have ever let us near him outside), took him to the vet on Wednesday after a night of him howling in a cage in the kitchen, and got him neutered and vaccinated. He's been running loose in the house for the past two nights, squirting everything in sight with his remaining scent (hopefully that will be running out soon ) and howling madly and beating on the windows at night, he wants out so desperately.

But he is now showing signs of settling down. He slept a portion of the night on the bed with us last night, purring and semi-snuggling and making some effort towards getting himself clean. He seems to recognize his name and occasionally comes when we call him, and sometimes comes when we don't. He's been doing an occasional head-butt and leg-rub, and appears to like being skritched behind the ears. The other boys don't mind him, and he doesn't seem to mind them and we have hopes of an eventual friendship, at least with Finley (Harvey being kind of old, cranky and set in his ways).

However, tomorrow we let him out for the first time, so fingers crossed that he comes back. Particularly since we just paid $466 basically to keep our house from smelling like cat spray. It would be nice to get something a little more tangible out of the deal, and we actually like the furry little pest.

Re: For animal lovers

I read an article yesterday that made me go "whoa". An elderly couple had about 800 dogs in their triple wide mobile home, and around 82 parrots. All the animals were taken away. The article said that around 30 were pregnant and some were even giving birth when they were taken away.

I just makes me go "wow" sometimes.

I have Frosti again because of an emergency medical/ambulance trip to the hospital (the mom). They didn't know who else to call and when I took him the 8-yr.-old daughter was crying and crying. I don't think I could "claim" him after that. Besides my son is coming home for spring break and will freak (allergies).

But you can't keep yanking that poor kitten back & forth like a piece of luggage. If I were closer i would come & get that one.
