Re: For animal lovers

I've been out of touch for a couple of days, but I'm VERY happy to hear that our family of furry friends are healthy, warm, and home where they belong!

Re: For animal lovers

OMG, Doxie, I would have been so scared. I'm so glad that he was found. In church no less. LOL!
Let us know what day he gets up this week.

I have been in your situation a time or two and it is so scary until you get them back home. I always keep a collar and tags on mine for that very reason.

Re: For animal lovers

Doxie, I'm so glad that Henry found someone with the sense to try and locate his owner. Silly doggie - our furry little friends seem to have no idea how much they worry us.

Well, Finley seems to be back to normal, with the exception of a recovery food monkey on his back. He's become addicted to it (high fat, and delicious like most high fat things are, apparently) and will not stop bugging me for it. I'm not sure how he's going to deal with detoxing from the stuff once we run out.

And once I got some water into him by semi-force, he actually started drinking of his own accord. For a couple of days, he would just sit in front of one of his water bowls, or his water mug we keep in the sink, just staring at it, swaying and looking ill. He would then wander away and pass out somewhere. This apparent fear of water of course made me think of rabies. but I assume (well, Mr. Rattus assumed) that the vet could tell if he had rabies from the bloodwork, and of course all his shots are up to date. We have no idea what the issue was, but it does appear to be over.

I'm glad to hear Finley is much better.
at him and the food. So his food is the Feline version of Paula Deen's recipes?

Doxie...what a relief! I'm sure Henry is glad to be home. Good to hear Finley is back to normal, Rattus. It's scary when they stop eating and doing their usual things. As for the food issue, I sure hear you. My big dog is with my sis-in-law while we wait for our house. They are real dog lovers and have been giving her some natural yogurt over her food to encourage her to eat. She was sad/missing us at the beginning. Of course, now she loves it and waits for it to be added to her dry food. I guess I better add it to the list now!

Have you checked whether it's actually good for dogs? I have no idea, but I gather that milk isn't particularly good for adult cats, so I'd look into the same issue with dogs if you're considering feeding it to her regularly. Because you know, just like people, they love whatever does their body the least amount of good (as I trundle off home for a gin & tonic dinner ).

Re: For animal lovers

To celebrate 1 year since we adopted Koji, I thought I would share his favourite place to sit. It is the bin we use for grocery shopping, it's usually in the car. But whenever it comes in the house, he has to jump in and inspect it. If its up too high or full, he will meow until we put it down on the floor for him and empty it.

I think they only add a small amount, and her best friend is a vet and at her house all the time, so I think it is okay. I'll ween her of the habit when I get her home. Once in a while I just add the water from the tuna can to the kibble. I am just happy she is with family and not having to be kenneled. I wondered about it also, truth be told, but she is 150 lb. dog, and it is only a couple of tablespoons.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about a little bit like that. I occasionally give the boys stuff that probably wouldn't be in their best interest on a regular, long-term basis (they looooooove the juice from a salmon tin), and it doesn't appear to harm them physically plus it makes their day just a little brighter. Much like chocolate does for me.
