Re: For animal lovers

Rattus - very glad that your boy is home and feeling better. I do feel your pain about the vet bills though. Our elderly JRT had to go to the ER a few months ago and his vet also likes to see him twice a year because he is older. It's worth it to keep him happy and healthy though.

MRD - you need to post a picture of that bunny!

Miss Kitty - I am glad that your kitties all got along while you were out of the house. We came home after lunch today and found that Simon had escaped from the kitchen and was sleeping under the electric blanket where Henry spends most of his time. Henry was waddling around and growling and seemed quite angry. He met us at the door and then ran/waddled down the hall and barked until Simon emerged from underneath the covers.

And I like the Animal Rescue site too--I've actually bought a vest, gloves and hat off the site, and it's good quality stuff at a reasonable price, while you help homeless animals at the same time

Re: For animal lovers

so glad to hear that Finley is feeling better.

Doxie, that is too funny about Simon taking Henry's spot under the electric blanket.
We have a dual control heated mattress pad. My husband puts his on 1 or 2 and I always have mine on about 7. Rosie generally sleeps next to him on the outside with her nose sticking out, but everything else under the covers. Yesterday morning early, she climbed over him, came up next to me and started grunting and pushing at the covers. I lifted them up and she settled in next to me. My husband said she must have been cold as she stayed there even after we got up.

Our vet here has not reccomended Rosie coming in more than once a year. She will be 11 in March. I am going to ask about the twice a year thing as she is getting older.

The Vet that my folks take Max & Missy to also has not said that they need to go in twice a year, nut I think it's beginning to become more common.

Re: For animal lovers

I'm sitting here holding/stroking kitty toes while she snoozes next to the computer. It's very comforting and soothing for me. She's purring up a storm. I guess we're both happy!

Thank you very much.
Thanks for the link, misskitty. I used to have this listed under my faves and it got lost somehow. It's such an easy way to do a little good for animals.

Rattus - So happy Finley is home again, how is he doing today?

Re: For animal lovers

We've had a crazy day. Our back gate was accidentally left open and Henry ran away from home! At first, we weren't that concerned because he's done this twice before and never gotten more than a few houses away. After an hour of looking for him on foot and driving through the subdivision, we still hadn't seen him. I was still in pjs and sobbing by this point. Several neighbors came out to look for him and my husband drove around the area for another hour. I finally went back inside hoping that someone would see his tag and call us.

Someone did call!!! Apparently, Henry had decided to go to church! He'd gotten out of our subdivision and waddled down a four lane parkway (which makes my heart stop just thinking about it) for about a mile. He was headed into a church parking lot when he was spotted by a young couple who were coming out of church. They caught him, got our number from his tag and called me. My husband picked me up (still in pjs and crying) and we met Henry's Good Samaritans and got him back. He was filthy, cold and scared, but safe. That tag and harness saved his life. The people who found him said that they stopped because they saw the harness and knew that someone was missing him. We could not thank them enough for taking the time to catch Henry and then call and wait for us to come get him.

Henry has had a bath and many hugs and now he's back under the electric blanket where he belongs. I'm sure he will sleep for days. That's probably the most exercise he's ever gotten in one morning! I'm SO happy that he is back!
