Queenie, you got me there, that's very funny. I've been busy with r/l and have missed lots of posts - I didn't realize you've been in the kitty rescue business. I love your description:

Congratulations, queenb! How exciting for you, or your niece, and how fortunate for the kitty.

The bathroom and little-by-little method has always worked for me, and I'm sure Rocky will adjust though one never knows how long it will take. And you're wise also to quarantine. We didn't wait long enough here and Theo gave everyone his URI (everyone's fine now, but there was lots of yakking for a while.)

Every kitty is beautiful. I don't care about traditional measures.

I always take a new kitty straight to my vet before I bring the new baby into the house....I don't care if the shelter does say that their vet checks out every cat! I don't know that vet!

She's adorable Queenie. I love your description. She looks like one of the boys that's been rolling in an oil slick. I think she's gorgeous.
My sister had a cat that was a mix between a siamese and a tiger cat. Siamese coloring with the tiger cat markings. Henry was too cool.

I was afraid she'd look kind of scraggly, but she's beautiful, Queenie, and her coat is surprisingly shiny.

Oh and Daphne is a wonderful name for a kitty. I couldn't imagine anything sweeter than ours. Gabriel, you have a way with these things (Theo is still frequently called "the Shmuglump" )

For anyone who may find it useful:

Our shelter, and many others I'm sure, can run a Feline HIV and leukemia test in about five minutes before you bring home your kitty (and it only cost us $5!)
