    Re: For animal lovers

There are fireworks at the end of my block twice a year (New Year's Eve, and Fourth of July). I inherited my own Chloe in late October, and when that first December 31st rolled around, she reacted much like your cat, Shay. In fact, she sat me down for a long discussion about the barbaric way in which humans celebrate.

We've had a ton of construction going on over the last several years, and now she doesn't even bat an eye. She's so used to loud noises, and she has figured out that I'm not going to let anything bad happen to her, so she's fine with it.

My old dog Seamus had to be tranquilized each 4th of July. I'm praying the girls will do better. If I go out I'll leave all the TVs on with the volume up. Greta should be alright, but I am worried about Ella. She runs and hides when the doorbell rings.

Katie hates the noise. Here they allow fireworks for a full week before the 4th, so the stands have been up and running since Thursday. Unfortunately, it seems like everyone waits until after 11 pm to shoot them off.

My dogs are terrified of the fireworks. Our neighbors were lighting fireworks last night. They will also do it on the 4th and if history repeats itself, the weekend after.

I'm not a fan of fireworks. We keep all the windows closed and the AC on and stay home with the kitties and they do okay. This will be baby's first year but I think he'll be okay too. I do remember not having AC and having to tranquilize kitties, though.

Why would you use any other avatar when you have this one?
