Rocky the Alarm Cat is a good boy--he only comes in every 30 minutes or so, meows two or three times, and goes back to his sunny spot, unless I wake up enough to tell him to come see me and get petted!

Not here; I am after all the Queen!
A question--I took Rocky to the vet Monday to treat ear mites (otc stuff workeed only temporarily) and Wednesday he's started sneezing quite a lot. I wonder if it's just a cold he picked up, or if the medicine could be messing him up some way?
The vet did give him an antibiotic because he's also got a small infection in one ear, and I've got to take him back the 9th to get a teeth cleaning, so I'm not going to set another appointment in between, but I do wonder about it.
Could it be the stres of riding in the car? He got sick when I got him from the rescue, and also when I took him to the vet's even though it was only a 10 minute ride.

Our kitties each have their own ways of waking us up for food.

Rainey used to make a repetitive "bweh-(exhale)" sound.
Daphne marches across us, and if we don't budge she'll swipe at our faces.
Keko goes "Mow? Mow? Mow? Mow? Mow?..." over and over and over.
Angela chews loudly on the plastic trash liners.
Daniel walks across the vertical blinds.
Gina and the baby just sit there and wait. With that circus going on, it isn't long before someone is up to feed them.

Most likely it's a cold/flu/upper-respiratory-infection-thing, or an allergic reaction to something on the trip. URIs generally pass but if he loses appetite or is otherwise despondent for more than a couple days then he should be looked at. Disclaimer: I'm not a vet, just someone who has seen their share of kitty sneezes. Good luck

My kitty is waking me up for companionship--he already has food!

Thanks Lei-- he he's eating fine, and has to go back to Dr B in a week, so I'm trying not to stress too much over it

My cat Mollie does that. She's a little tight-rope walker, that one.

My stalker kitty, when she is unusually stressed, blows bursts of air through her nose. Anyone ever hear of/experience that? I did have one that used to give an audible, exasperated sigh when she was fed up with whatever, but never anything like this.

    Re: For animal lovers

My husband gets up at 5 am. all week for work. Rosie will stay in bed asleep most mornings until around 10, even after I have gotten out of bed. Bogie too, but he gets up a little bit earlier than Rosie. Waldo gets up when you turn over in your sleep in the hope that you are awake to keep him company. He just about drives us nuts pacing in the night.

But on Sundays, the ONLY day my husband can sleep in, Rosie climbs on his back and starts licking his ears and growling trying to wake him up, usually by 8 am. She wants him up and she will not leave him alone. I have never figured out why the diva sleeps until 10 unless hubby is home wanting to sleep.

ETA: and its not MY company she wants because I am usually awake when she does this to him so she could come to me for company, but noooo, she must have him.

Maybe she's afraid he's late for work.
