Thank you all so much for your all your kind thoughts. I am so deeply touched, by your appreciation of our loss, as well as your acceptance of me into this wonderful group.

We're fine, or at least as well as can be expected. We were blessed not only by her long life of loving us, but also by her graceful passing. We were preparing (as much as one can) for this time since she became ill, so that by the time she was suffering, we knew what to do. Pouring out tears, but with peaceful spirits.

I know (as I've mentioned before) that grief comes in waves, so there'll be more, but now there is relief, as she is in peace.

Thank you all again.

Lei...what a beautiful kitty. I know it must have been hard, but I agree with all the sentiments others have expressed. I'm glad you have support, and all the best to you at this time. Those pictures are wonderful.

Sorry!! know it's a tear-jerker. But it reminds us just how much our pets love us and what we mean to them.

The poem itself is fine. It's the last phrase that kills me. I've lived that moment too many times. Even the ones that are decades old flash into my memory as if they were happening right now.

Oddly, it's not the loss that brings forth the tears now. It's the memory encapsulated in the words...

I will leave you knowing with my last breath I drew, my fate was ever in your hands.

You sense that feeling as the end draws near. It's as if the two of you live your life together one last time. And, through that bond, comes peace.

I'm not certain why I'm weeping now. I suppose it's because of the gratitude if feel for being privileged to share that extraordinary experience with some of God's greatest creatures.

We welcome you with open arms and give you and your family a with those arms like we do for each other when need be.

In an effort to help put the tears behind us, let me post a new picture.

I bought a toy for Greta today. She loves to sit on top of the office desk and look out the window. To my knowledge there's never been anything worth staring at, but she does so nonetheless. Well, today I thought it would be a treat to give her a kitty reality TV show to watch. For want of a better name we're calling it 'The caged bird eats'. (Needless to say we are accepting suggestions of other names. ) Surprisingly, the birds have already gotten used to her reaching out to 'touch' them every so often. Greta is in heaven. I have to drag her from the office when I leave home.

Aw, Lei, please add my condolences to all the others before me - Rainey was a beautiful kitty and you had provided a wonderful life for her. Just in case it needs repeating, you are indeed a part of our Fort family, so don't ever feel you can't share your feelings - providing they're PG-13, of course.

Claire was so pretty, I am sure her & Mona have crossed paths at the Rainbow Bridge, they probably have bumped into misskittys snowflake also. Three girls all having fun.

Thank you gabriel! Claire was very pretty. What a beautiful image I have of her now, frolicking with your dear Mona and misskitty's dear Snowflake. And all the others. Thank you so much for such a beautiful picture. I am so very sorry about Mona. It's a new reality you have to adjust to, and it is so painful.

Lei, my heart goes out to you for losing your dear Rainey. What a beautiful cat. When I lost my Claire, I was in such a state of denial, I couldn't accept that she was dying. I would have done anything. Her vet had an accent, and the last day I had with her, he told me the time had come to give Claire "peas". I said "ofcourse, absolutely...do you mean pureed like baby food?..should I put them in the blender?". I was desperate. His assistant put her arm on my shoulder and said, "not peas...peace, it's time to let her go". It was the tremendous love I felt for her that enabled me to do what was best for her. But I will never forget how hard that was to do. Please avail yourself of all the caring support here at FORT. We will cry with you.
