Gabe, there are times when, even after many years, something will happen to remind me of one of my babies and I'll outright cry. For both our sakes, I hope it's normal.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

Gabriel: it's tough...especially when things happen to remind you. There is no normal, whatever it takes. Give Joey an extra pat for me.

gabriel - As my former boss always used to say "It is what it is." So take as long as you need to grieve. Everyone is different. There will probably always be things that occur from time to time that will remind you of Mona. But I think as time goes on, instead of getting teary, you'll start to smile as you are reminded of her.

Awwww...maybe Joey did that because it reminded HIM of your Mona...don't kid yourself....I think he knows and maybe he just wanted to share that little bit of knowledge with you. So sweet of him...animals are SO smart! I took my baby Bratty Matty back to the vet today for an ear check (perfect!) and her booster shots. I LOVE the waiting room at the vet's office!

I'd like a waiting room with a small wall separating dogs from cats.

Gabriel, grieving comes in waves, washing over you when you least expect it, so please know that what you experienced is a normal reaction when you love deeply - be it a person or pet.

I was taking some paperwork to our office today. There's a little park close by and I passed a man taking his golden retriever to play. The pup was carrying a ball in his mouth trotting along with that "Oh boy, I'm going to play" look on his face. Reminded me of my boy Chauncy and he's been gone for about 7 years now. Brought a tear to my eye but in a good way.

Joeys doctors place is designed just that way. They opened the new location a few blocks away from the original location and the design of that clinic is just wonderful. The waiting areas are separated by a half wall with a planter across the top, and the canine half has doggie artwork and wallcovering theme, while the feline has cat artwork and wallcovering.

He knows, and I know he misses her. For a few weeks I had Mona's THE LOOK as my desktop on one of my computers, I walked into the living room and found Joey sitting in my chair STARING at the screen, I picked him up and he started "talking" to me, I was skritching and petting him, and from the corners of both eyes outward his fur was damp. I wondered if he could have been crying...

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Animals can feel loss just as much as we can.
