Livin, what a sad story about your childhood pets.

tvlover: What precious puppies you have! Too cute.

Newf: Oscar might be coming back! Even if he is "altered".

Unk: Your boys are too cute....my kitts love looking outside in the dark too!

myrosiedog: oh my. I wonder why this poopy thing started now?

remotegoddess: Aww. That's too bad that they don't get along in the house. Poor kitty.

prhoshay! I totally agree with you!!
    ------------

Miss Gracie just got back from her vet appointment. She was behind on her shots....about 8 years behind. She does not like car rides and was very vocal about it. But she managed to get her shots without incident. I, however, have suffered a few more claw marks in my skin. She weighs 9lbs now which is perfect and she has "incredibly great teeth genes"! I have to watch her for 3 hours to make sure she doesn't have an allergic reaction. I let her snuggle into my duvet on my bed so she can relax. Mr. Tootles just wants to play. So that's about $220 in vet bills in a week. This is an expensive month!

I have a question for all of you who have lost a loving pet. How long was it before you got a new one? And are you happy you decided to get one?

I put my baby Sam down about a year and a half ago. Well, we have the opportunity to get a full breed lab puppy (my boss' dog is pregnant and he said we can have the first pick. all we have to do is pay for the shots). Hubby is all for it, but I'm still not sure.
I can only please one person a day, today is not your day and tomorrow doesn't look good either

When I've lost my pets in the past, I've always had others there to keep me sane.

If I were to lose the only pet I had, I'd get a new one immediately. They can't replace the love you lost, but they help to endure it.

This is the main reason I got Greta dnd Ella. I didn't get them for myself. I got them to replace my mother's aging cat when she passes. I knew that the new cat would outlast my mother and I wanted a cat I would be happy sharing my house with for many years to come.

Of course, 'best laid plans', and all, I'll still have to get mom a new cat when hers passes. No way I can live without my girls now.

We've always gotten a new cat immediately, but we've also always had one with us already so it's been more a matter of keeping the present furry friend from gettin lonely. We got Finley two years ago a week after Spotty died because the Harv was pining, and while I still love Spotty just as much as I ever did, I love Finley just as much and have never regretted his presence for a moment. And the Harv loves him too.

We've always gotten a new one immediately. I find that it helps the hurt a bit. However, when we lost Annie 8 years ago in August. Rosie had just had puppies, so we already had Bogie. So for about 4 months, we had 3 dogs and we did not get another one until Waldo. I think 2 is a better amount. I probably will not have more than 2 at a time when one of them goes. I hate to even think about that day.

    Re: For animal lovers

I got this in an email today...it pertains to Mother's Day but its still funny.........

On Mother's Day: Why My Lips Stayed Chapped! - -
    author unknown - -

So, we had this great 10 year old cat named Jack who
just recently died. Jack was a great cat and the kids
would carry him around and sit on him and nothing ever
bothered him. He used to hang out and nap all day long
on this mat in our bathroom.

Well we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they
were 4 years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The
middle one is Eli. Eli really loves chapstick. LOVES it. He kept
asking to use my chapstick and then losing it. So finally one
day I showed him where in the bathroom I keep my
chapstick and how he could use it whenever he wanted
to but he needed to put it right back in the drawer
    when he was done.

Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical
rush around and try to get ready for Church with
everyone crying and carrying on. My two boys are fighting over
the toy in the cereal box. I am trying to nurse my
little one at the same time I am putting on my
make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone has long
forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and
the amazing job that is motherhood.

We finally have the older one and the baby loaded in
the car and I am looking for Eli. I have searched
everywhere and I finally round the corner to go into the bathroom.
And there was Eli. He was applying my chapstick very
carefully to Jack's . . . rear end. Eli looked right into my eyes
    and said "chapped."

Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right --
their little bottoms do look pretty chapped. And,
frankly, Jack didn't seem to mind. And the only
question to really ask at that point was whether it
was the FIRST time Eli had done that to the cat's
    behind or the hundredth.

And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever
because it reminds us that no matter how hard we try
to civilize these glorious little creatures, there
will always be that day when you realize they've been
using your chapstick on the cat's butt.

Damnit bb!!! Warn me when you're going to post something that funny. I made the mistake of reading it while at work and I laughed so loud and hard they thought I'd lost my mind.

ETA: I'm still laughing about it.

No no no! That's not what I meant - I was just saying it was just as funny the second time I read it! I'm glad you posted it here, since this thread is more appropriate for it! Thank you!
