I did the same. I just wanted my litte guy( Walter) to live the rest of life happy, until he was no longer able. I didn't want him to suffer through radiation . I just couldn't do that.. Good thoughts for Bailey

Oh, I'm so sorry about the malignant diagnosis, Katesmom. It's totally understandable not wanting to put Bailey through surgery and radiation at her advanced age. It's good that she is eating and drinking and doesn't appear to be in pain. My dog went quietly at home at the age of 13 1/2 so I never had to make that difficult decision to put a pet down. I'm hoping that if the vet can't remove the tumor that Bailey will have a bit more pain-free time with all of you and go quietly like my Sandy did.

I've also been where you are Katesmom, and I have nothing but admiration for your courage, strength and compassion. I hope the love we all are feeling for you will help you in these hard times.

KatesMom, I am so sorry. There have been many animals in my life that have helped me through so much. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
I forgot that I even posted in here about my cat. She seems to be better now. They seem so much happier now and play with each other now.

I am so glad you "updated". I was about to come back in here and ask how things were going. I would expect little things, from time to time; even our pets have an occasional bad day from time to time. Glad to hear that things have evened out; she's not the same cat that she was before the spaying, so some changed behavior should come as no surprise.

    Have fun!

So sorry to hear that Katesmom. I agree with your decision to not have her suffer.

Buddy is limping along - literally. He's losing the feeling in his back legs due to a tumor (we think since we didn't do the MRI - no reason to since we weren't going to operate) but he's still himself. He still has his appetite and happy go lucky attitude. Until he shows signs of suffering, we're making his life as easy as possible. He has a ramp and we are working on building him a wheelchair. Almost have it finished but not sure he'll use it or not. We'll see. He just has a hard time with the right back leg. He is doing well otherwise though.

    Hang in there!

    Re: For animal lovers

We took a 1 1/2 year old long haired chihuahua from a friend who had to get rid of him about 3 weeks ago and now I am having to take him to the vet today because he may have parvo. They got his first shots but didn't get him anymore and I hadn't gotten him into the vet yet to get him updated but I guess I am today. Why do people get breed dogs and not get them their shots. They are so susceptible to these things. Now it will cost me an arm and leg to get him well if he does.

    Hope Boomer doesn't have it.

Katesmom so sorry to hear about your dog. It is so hard when our pets aren't well.

Boomer doesn't have parvo but has gastroenteritus and he had to stay all night in the doggie hospital to be IV'd and given meds. He should get to come back home tomorrow.
