jamie, It took our dog about a year to get over the loss of his buddy. We spent extra time with him like you are doing. It helped to keep the same routine. It just takes time for everyone to heal.

How sad! Does the surviving dog respond to music? I know when I've lost someone, soothing music helped a little.

    Jamie,

I'm so sorry for your loss.
Agree with the other posters recommendations.
I also know when I lost the first of my 2 cats who were together since birth, the survivor actually flourished. He knew I was hurting and he was, too. But, then, he quickly realized that he got all the love previously shared.
He adjusted in record time, it seems.
Hope the same happens with yours.
For your other furbaby, he will be greeted with much love on the Rainbow Bridge from so many of FORT's departed pets. They will all love him dearly, just like you.

Thanks so much everyone. We are all hurting and still shocked over how he went from perfectly fine to gone in less than an hour, but we all getting each other through. She is getting and giving lots and lots of love and taking it pretty easy today. I was thrilled when she perked up, wagging tail, excited, was her happy self, etc when it was time for her to be, so I'm not sweating her down time so much anymore. She has been and known nothing but love with him and I know that love will get us through being without him.

Jamie, I'm sorry to hear this; it's hard to lose a pet suddenly like that.
I'm not overjoyed about it, but I guess I might as well start keeping an eye out for a BooBoo buddy. She is just less clingy and whiny (but still lovable) with another kitty around.

Jamie, I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. I lost my dear dog 2 weeks before Christmas, so suddenly. Although it was difficult I took comfort in that she passed quickly, didn't seem to suffer and we didn't have to make a heartbreaking decision to put her down. I never had multiples but the advice you've been given sounds good. Hugs being sent your way. Take care.

Here's my Bella in the window, "watching the neighborhood". Notice the tree outside; beautiful fall colored leaves.

    Bella is pretty beautiful, too.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "Happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment. I told them they didn't understand life. - John Lennon
