My cat and dog have always gotten along, but lately the cat has been rubbing herself along the length of the dog, up one side, then down the other, and then she turns quickly and lashes out with her claws at his face. It's to the point, where I try to keep her away from him altogether, but with the cold weather coming, I'm going to be closing off the whole upstairs and uninsulated "living room" (converted shed) making them share 3 rooms and a long hallway for most of the day. Any ideas on how to discourage this? Right now, when it happens, I make a big fuss over him and then throw her outside.

Yes! But right now it's only at night. The days are still warm enough. I live in my "nest" chair with my Kindle and tv remote after work every day. I've been weeding out books so that all the books I have are actually on shelves and not piled up everywhere. The Kindle makes it easier to get rid of books. The dog sleeps on my nest chair now instead of the (cold) leather couch while I'm at work.

*sigh* I might as well let them dress me.
