After almost 8 years Princess has finally started jumping onto my lap and mushing my arm to pet her. She's never been very affectionate and I figured it was because she had been a ferral cat. It's so weird........ I was telling my husband maybe something is wrong with me and she's trying to tell me ala the cat on House.

BL: I wanted to share my experience- The only time that one of my cats will let me pet her is when she is sick. The first time ear infection, next a bite. I hope that is not the case, but you might want to check her over.

Does anybody know if tunafish contains some sort of cat aphrodisiac?
My guy can be fast asleep and purring quietly, yet as soon as he hears the can opener, he comes running in.
I know it's not just the can opener, as opening soup, etc. never brings that reaction.
Anybody have any theories here?

Thanks inthegarden...... that was my second fear. I always have thought that sick cats go away and hide but I have read that isn't the case with all of them. I may bite the bullet and take both of us in for a checkup!

But, why doesn't he do it with all the other cans? You're right - it must have strange powers only known to the animal community.

It's the smell. Now don't get me wrong, I like both tuna and corned beef hash, but I refer to the canned versions of both as cat food and dog food because of the smell.

We had a cat when I was a kid that my mom would take the electric can opener to the back door and turn it on as the sound always brought the cat running in from outside.

Bug, the cat on house was proven to be seeking the heat from those that were dying. They either had a fever or an electric blanket, so the cat wasn't so psychic after all.
But it doesn't hurt to get both of you checkups.

We have an owl hooting outside our bedroom at night and I'm not normally superstitious, but that old wives tale about owls has me totally freaked out when I hear the owl.

Princess will come running if I just take the air seal off the coffee can!! it makes me laugh every time. Now my son has gotten her used to him making his lunch at 9pm so anytime he goes into the kitchen she expects a piece of turkey! She is acting like a dog sometimes!
