The scent is actually what the cat is leaving. Most people think they are "sharpening" their claws but they are leaving scent.

Sure is quiet in this house.
I really recommend Soft Paws (they are small caps that you glue on each individual claw). We decided not to declaw our tabby and instead fitted him out with Soft Paws for the first few months, and he has not scratched a single thing in our house, ever (not deliberately). We just put them on his front paws, and you don't have to remove them as they will come off when he sheds his claws. They are a bit expensive but well worth it. Dorito only needed them for a short time. He doesn't seem interested in scratching anything since.

We still don't own a pet and we still have the same visitor every single morning of the world. My windows come almost to the floor and I won't open the blinds till my husband gets up because that dog stands there and stares at me wanting his Alpo. We put it on a paper plate and hubby takes it out and sits on the steps while the dog wolfs it down. We love that dog and can't stand the thought of anything happening to him.

Scared me, there, for a minute! I thought you were talking about your husband when you said "I won't open the blinds till my husband gets up because that dog stands there and stares at me wanting his Alpo." I was greatly relieved to see that I was not correct!

prhoshay! I understood what Mudah meant, but now you've pointed it out, that is funny!
BooBoo is declawed, but still goes through the motions of scratching--mostly on the floor when I'm brushing her, and on people she likes . It tickles, and the very serious look on her face when she does it is funny as can be. She also "claws" on her kitty condo, and the leg of my computer desk. I suppose the trick to making a clawed kitty use the post is just to make the post the most attractive place to scratch--and use the double side tape or whatever else you need to deter them from other spots till they learn to use the post.

None of the girls scratch the furniture. Instead, I have three different cardboard scratching pads for them. One is a ramp, and the other two are simply placed on the floor. They come with small packets of catnip to attract the cats, but the girls have never needed it. They just took to the cardboard immediately.

I went out to get coffee this morning and when I came back I saw the male/female ducks that used to hang around my house...they're back!

Is this a stray or a neighbor's pet? It's very nice of you to feed him everyday!

We have had the windows open for the past few nights and have been awoken by the very loud Woodpecker who seems to have moved into our neighborhood. This is followed by much growling from Henry who would probably take to his bed for days if he actually encountered this Woodpecker.

Simon and Henry enjoyed the lovely weather today. They snoozed in the sun while we worked in the yard and then they went for a truck ride with Mr. Doxie.

Is he growling from UNDER his electric blanket? Joey was in a sunny window yesterday and I bet he was enjoying it as much as Simon and Henry enjoyed the outside sun. It does feel good. You are not going to tell me that Mr. Doxie just took them for a ride like in just a ride with no destination?
