When brushing your teeth (for the very frugal) ... After you've squeezed out all of the toothpaste that you can, cut the tube in half and you might get a couple more uses out of it.

I know a couple who have stopped their trash service. Because they are so "green," they only generate a small amount that can rightfully be placed in a public can.

My parents are similar. They compost everything they can and recycle the rest. They generate very little "trash" and make only the occasional trip to the dump ... or they pay their neighbor a little bit of money to take it to the dump when he goes.

I'm about to shop for health care plans. I hope to find something reasonable. I pay a LOT now.

I was baking banana bread today and didn't have enough flour (I was 1/3 cup short). Since I had already mixed the wet ingredients, I couldn't drop everything and run to the store. So I chopped up 1/3 cup of oats (to a powder) as a substitution. I'm happy to say that it worked just fine.

You could also use any cereal ground in a food processor.

Whenever I buy sheets, pillow cases and shams, curtains, etc. that come in the heavy plastic zipper bags, I save them. They are excellent for storing things or as travel bags. I try to reuse and repurpose as much as possible. I wouldn't put food products in them though.
