    Re: Happy mother's day 2013

I send cards to my own mom, my MIL and my husband's grandma, because I adore her and she let me call her "grandma" right from the beginning. (I had just lost my own wonderful grandmother just months before my husband & I started dating.). If there's a mom in your life that you love, send them a gift, a card, or your best wishes for the day whether you're related to them or not.

Hope you all have a lovely mother's day. .

I saw this today and thought it was too cute not to share... a message to moms from kid president (YouTube).

I (we) give cards and gifts to my mom and MIL but not the grandmas. MrCoz always gives me a gift because I'm the mother of his child. We don't even always exchange gifts for Valentine's day and we might have even missed anniversaries. My daughter is old enough now that I sometimes get gifts from her but she helps picking my gift at the very least. One year she thought of the gift and I hadn't even asked for it but use it nearly daily. It's one of my all-time favorite gifts. I guess all those years training her to be thoughtful in her gift choices paid off!

This year I get to spend Mother's Day with my mom. I think it's been nearly twenty years since that last happened, so I'm very excited.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's here :-)

My mom loves the Kindle I got her. She's 80 and doesn't do well with technology, but she loves to read and big heavy books are difficult for her. I have it on my account (300 books) and put over a dozen on I think she will like. She used it all weekend to be sure she understood the basic functions. I also got her Miracle Frooties and we had a blast doing those with a big platter of fruit with sour cream and Greek yogurt. If you've never done them, they're a tropical fruit condensed into a pill that you dissolve on your tongue. Then anything sour tastes sweet. My son got me a big bouquet of flowers and drove the 6 hours to and from my daughter's graduation. My older daughter got me Threads magazine, and my younger daughter got me a beautiful rose bush and cooked dinner for us. Lovely day. We all went kite flying.

I agree with telling all Mother's in your life Happy Mother's Day. My sister's sister in law called her up to tell her (she is mommy to a fur kid) and asked to talk to me to tell me how wonderful a fur mommy I am. LOL I got a kick out of that. I would tell my grandmother's and aunts that were all moms and I agree with husbands getting their wives (mother's of their children) gifts from their kids. My dad still gets my mom gifts even though all his kids are grown and we all give her gifts from ourselves on our own. My gift to my mom this year was to take them to see my sister in Dallas (6 hours away for them). They drive 2 hrs to my brothers - I pick them up there ( an hour drive for me the other direction) then I drove them 3 hours to Dallas. Once there we drove another 1-1/2 hours to Oklahoma border to a casino for mom to play the slot machines. Then we spent the night at my sister's. Then I drove them back to my brothers and they drove home. Lots of driving but that was her gift and what she wanted to do. My sister gave her money to spend gambling as well as we went to a great breakfast on Sunday morning. It is always nice to spend time with family and I had a great time. They wanted to give me for gas but it was my gift so I declined as well as my time spent on the actual driving! LOL I hope everyone had a great weekend as well.

It's great to see how happy your Mother's Days' were. We had an outdoor luncheon and all family, extended family and friends showed up. It was great. Nice cards and gifts, though they were not needed. The time together was wonderful and so was the weather. It was a perfect 68 degrees and sunny.
