I always love landing at home after a long trip. There's no place like home.

This is how I knew that San Diego was/is my real home:
After a trip "home" to Milwaukee to visit, it felt sooooooo good when the plane touched down in San Diego.

Hard to go wrong anywhere in Italy! My favorite is Florence, but make sure you take side trips to Assisi and Pisa. But I'm all about art. Venice is a whole different trip. Rome is a little overwhelming, but I guess if you go to Italy, you should see it while you're there.

Agree on loving Italy. I haven't been in years so I can't recommend hotels etc. but also loved Florence.

Do any of you folks have experience on river cruising? Specifically, we are looking into fall foliage on the Columbia/Snake River in October of 2015, and I'd love feedback from people who have actually done this or something similar.

    Thanks in advance!

I have taken a river cruise in Easter Europe so a little different. I say do it. I love to cruise and being on the water. It is so great to be on deck and relaxing.

Also I took a boat on the Irrawady River in Myanmar. But that was WAY different (we got stuck).

    Re: VACATION!! Yeah!! (Anyone Else?)

As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we have traveled back to where we met and married - Baltimore. We arrived yesterday, and I've already had cream of crab soup and a delicious crabcake. More crab will be consumed after church today.

This morning we will visit the church where we met almost 51 years ago. I don't think we'll see anyone we knew back then, but it will be great to visit here as part of the "Reminiscence Tour."

There was a humongous thunderstorm last night. Even knocked out the power at the hotel for about 15 seconds!
