    Re: Christmas 2007

Burntbrat, how was the mimosa? I had one and about 3 cups of coffee, so have a caffiene/champagne buzz going. But it's all good. Had sausage balls and pumpkin bread to counteract the buzz.

I'm already running the dishwasher and it's only 9:15.

We had a very nice morning. Daughter was in disbelief over the bunny. So it was a great morning for her. She's named it some Japanese name I can't prounce so I am now calling it TDB (for That Damn Bunny) because I've apparantly been saying that since we first had the idea for it and hubby suggested I called it TDB.

Waldo has been petrified all morning, poor thing. The other dogs almost tore the stockings up getting to their goodies, but he has been bewildered and scared. He's scared of the bunny, he's scared of the wrapping paper. Poor thing. He's carrying his chew bone around in his mouth and is afraid to put it down because Rosie has collected ALL the bones, put them in her bed and is baring her teeth and snarling at humans and dogs alike if we look like we're coming close to her. Mean, greedy thing!

I got a book called Bad Dogs have more Fun. Can't wait to read it.

Since my daughter works at a bookstore, I got some really nice gifts: books!
I can't wait to start reading.

And I got new fuzzy slippers so my feet are cozy and warm.

And hubby surprised me with something I NEVER expected. I saw an old kitchen hutch in a junk store back in July that I wanted. I've been looking at these things for years and have always wanted one. But in antique stores they run anywhere from $700-$1800. Well this store (and it really is a junk store and I don't think they had any idea what they had or it would have been more expensive) had it back in July for $200 and hubby went back in OCTOBER and they still had it and made him a deal, so he's been hiding it ever since. I'm thrilled. Now have to find a place for it.

The funny thing is that we watched A Christmas STory last night and I commented that they had "one of those things I've wanted" in their kitchen. Hubby said he almost lost it when I said that. He made me go to bed and he put it in the living room after I went to sleep. It needs some cleaning, but otherwise its in fairly good shape and I'll leave it and not paint it as I like the aged, distressed look. But I prefer to have the clean look also.

So all in all it was a good Christmas here in the Myrosiedog house. The dogs have been busy with chew bones and my daughter had been busy with the bunny and I've been cooking. Don't know what Mr. Rosie is doing, but he's appearing to be busy.

Hope Santa was good to you all and you have a Merry and Wonderful Christmas.

Oh and my friend that is sending her 11 year old daughter for a week, called and put it on speaker when her daughter opened her airline tickets. She SCREAMED and then started crying! It was so sweet. She's so excited and so are we. She can't believe she gets to come "all by herself". She arrives Friday morning.

So now that it's quiet, I'm going to put on my new Queen Latifah Trav'lin Light CD and enjoy my slippers and read. Can't think of a better way to spend the day.

Hope all of you spend the day enjoying loved ones, good food and have a relaxing day.

Oh and Missyboxers, thanks. I love making the cards and it's been suggested I sell them, but then it becomes work. I'd rather make them knowing that they are going to people that are special that I know instead of laboring over something that becomes work and not an enjoying project for me. But thanks. I really enjoy making stuff like that.

    Re: Christmas 2007

We had a lovely morning as well. Youngest daughter made up a recipe for carrot pancakes with softened cream cheese "frosting" sauce. Stockings were fun, gifts appreciated. Pilot daughter very impressed with laptop that Leo, gabriel, queenb, et al. helped me pick out. Now they are all off to their dad's except for pilot daughter who has to fly back this afternoon. It was a treat having her home. Youngest daughter is really into musicals, so I look forward to watching her DVD gifts with her including Gypsy, Cabaret, and Camelot. Lots of leftovers so no cooking today. Yea! By the way - MRD's cards are even more lovely in person than onscreen. Thank you dahling.
    Count your blessings!

Those cards that myrosiedog made ARE more lovely in person - Thank You for sending one to me.

Also I got this cutest HUGE coffee mug from bbnbama with kitty kats in stockings and two very cute red hand towels with a kitty on them, and those pictures of Joey are him with his gift - the shredded paper that was in the box and now I have S H R E D D E D paper ALL OVER THE APARTMENT! Thank You bb...

ETA - and now I am prepping dinner for my parents, Brother & SIL and Uncle. Simple - Ham, veggies, potatoes, condiments and a stollen for the sweets.

ETA 2 - I can't recall the last time I had paper all over the place, I think Mona was still around and Joey used to jump on her because she would hide in the paper and WHACK him as he would go by. We've been having fun playing today

    Re: Christmas 2007

It was my pleasure to do the cards, you guys are most welcome.

Rosie and I took a nice nap and I was woken off (ETA: WHAT? I don't even understand that and I typed it. Let me rephrase: "I was awakened" )by flashbulbs as my daughter took our picture. I'll have to post it later in animal lovers thread. Rosie was curled up next to me with my chin resting on her head. We've eaten and eaten again and am now sort of watching Rio Bravo with hubby and thumbing through my new books. (Thougt of you Gabriel as I've watched Dino)

And speaking of books I have to say a big thanks to bbnbama who sent me the funniest book that I've been laughing over for days. It's called Life Lessons from the Dog. I swear that some man has broken into my house and observed my dogs and then written a book about then all without my knowledge. It is funny and I encourage all of you with dogs to get it, you will die laughing and see your own dogs in there as well.
Thanks again, it has brought a lot of laughter in our house lately.

And thanks to Queenb who sent me some wonderful cookies she baked herself. They have been divine and it was a fight to keep everyone out of them long enough to have some left for today. But we managed and we have really enjoyed them.

My Fort Friends are a continued joy to me. I love hearing from you and I'm glad you all enjoyed the cards I made.

I have cooked and cooked and cleaned and cleaned today. I thought it was supposed to be relaxing? (actually it was and the food I cooked wasn't all that hard. But the green bean bundles were a huge hit. I'll post the recipe soon. Very easy and impressive looking and taste great too. But they are tied into bundles with a strip of bacon. Bacon makes everything taste good. )

Sounds like everyone had nice days.

I hope the joy and goodwill of the holidays extends every day to you and yours through all of 2008!!!
Now that Christmas is nearly over, it's on to New Year's and Bowl Games!

Erm, uh... I chickened out. I opted for a big mug of coffee with hazelnut creamer. I just couldn't get past the mental block. I have no problem drinking at breakfast when I'm in Vegas, but at home I couldn't do it. I'm a dork. But now I have an entire bottle of champagne for New Year's Eve!
One of these days I'll stop being sensitive. Until then, I'll continue to be devastated on a daily basis. Life breaks my heart.
