| When I was a teenager in the 80's if we said "Thats tight." It meant that it was bad or mean. Now my kids say "Thats tight." and it means cool. Growing up in CA we always called our sodas Coke. |

| Thanks hepcat! That site really shows what's what! I live an hour north from NYC and I've always called it Soda. I've never heard someone refer to it as 'pop' or 'coke'. |

| I grew up in Louisiana with my mom's side of the family but now live in Texas. We have always called everything "coke". All of my family on my dad's side is in California( originally from Michigan) and they all say "pop".

It's hard not to giggle when I hear someone say "pop". It just seems.....unnatural. I have heard older folks say "sodey water" too. | |

| Where I live in Vancouver, BC, almost everyone refers to it as pop, except old fogeys, who still call it soda. I had no idea that people actually used "coke" to reffer to all different varieties of pop. That seems so strange to me . |

About the only other thing I ever heard it called as a kid was "a cold drink". That didn't mean iced tea, water or juice, just carbonated beverages. Country Gal.."Kin I git yew a coke? Farmer John..."Yes m'aam, thank yew. Country Gal..."What kind?" Farmer John..."Mountain Dew, please"

| queenb Cool accent! Growing up we called it "soda". When I lived in the midwest they called it "pop". In New England they call it "tonic" and a "soda" was like a milkshake but the type of milkshake I was used to they call a "frappe" -- at least they did years ago. |
