keep in mind that when you hear things like this it is mostly the older generation that says stuff like that...like my grandmother (age 70 something).
My family has comsumed pepsi products as far back as I can remember...and we're all white.

Savannah is gorgeous!!

Queenb, isn't RC Cola to be served when the entree is a moonpie? And has anyone else ever heard of the delicacy of peanuts in your coke? I have always heard that referred to as a Georgia Float.

RC and Moonpies .. I used to put peanuts in my Coke all the time. I like Rootbeer Floats too.. (A scoop of Vanilla ice cream in rootbeer)... I get teased all the time for things I say here. I say "plugging up" the kettle instead of "plugging in" the kettle. How about "Cut Out the lights" instead of Turn Off the Lights.

I am from Tennessee and sometimes I have a difficult time understanding people from Mississippi or North Carolina, but it depends what part of North Carolina, because they tend to speak differently. Northerners are very difficult to understand, especially people from New Jersey or New York. I went to the US embassy here a few months ago to replace my passport because mine had been stolen, the guy that was checking everyone out before we entered the building, asked if I was from New York, and I said No I am from Tennessee. Even the ladies at the Vets thought I was from upstate New York. I have been in Canada for 18 months, and my sister tells me all the time that I have developed a "Yankee" accent. I think I still have my southern drawl. Oh the Canadians call all people below the border "Yankees". Which cracked me up, because I always called people "Yankees" that lived above Kentucky, and called the rest of us "Rebels" or "Rednecks". Funny how people learn different things in different parts of the world

We call all Americans Yanks.. not Yankees And uhm.. if we're being more geographical.. we'll generally call people from "the South", Rednecks.. or Trailor Trash.. depending.. *runs* People from "the North" are just called Loud and Obnoxious. *runs faster*

As for "plugging up".. well.. that just sounds.. dirty.. I've said 'cut the lights' before..

Rootbeer floats are delicious and I have no idea why someone would make fun of that..

Why would anyone put peanuts in their coke? Do you just drink it up - chewing the peanuts along the way? I love Root beer floats...my family used to call them "Black Cows"...I assume they were referring to the mixture of white (the milk part/cows) and the dark blackish root beer? It could be a racist term though...I have no idea and if it is, I apologize in advance to anyone who might be offended. I don't really use the term..partly because my Arkansas (not me) family has a few references that are racist. So I stick to the terms I know the origination of.

Oh, my my neighbor who is from Tennessee loves to feed people. When you go over to her house she is always saying "D-jeet" It's almost one syllable for her. It took me the longest time to figure out she was saying "Did you eat?"

Oh Lord Girl, those are great. Yeah you just put peanuts in your drink and chew the peanuts as you drink. We use to do it when we had the old 10 oz Coke bottles, and drop the peanuts in the bottles.

Gee, Matt64, I'm highly recommending Canadians (was it a general "we" or just yourself) get out and see more of North America if you see everyone in such a simplistic and generalized manner.
