Okay, well, I'm from Tennessee, and we also have some weird sayings and talk kinda funny, but we're not the stupid hicks that run barefoot through fields with pitchforks, we're as normal as the next person, so here goes..

A bag is not called a bag by all people, old fashioned people call it a "poke"

It's not I am about to or I am going to, its "fixin to" which I see some people have already picked up on.

Some people don't call sodas "pops" or "cokes", as a matter of fact, I know people who call them "dopes".. Don't ask..

I don't say this, but most of my family says things like "maters" for tomatoes, "pillers" for pillows, "winders" for windows, "taters" for potatoes, and "warsh" for wash.

Also, I have friends from KY who instead of saying carry say "pack".. for example, "Pack him in here before he catches a cold". Also, instead of saying bathe they say "go bath"..

Okay, I know most of yall will make fun of us Tennesseeans for all this, but I don't say most of this.. Oh and there was another one! I say Yall all the time!

Yeah, it's the Brits who use the "s", but many Canadians do as well. We tend to spell things the way the Brits do.

Oh! What's with people who live in the South calling their kids "Bobby Ray" and "Bucky Bo" and "Billy Jean" and "Bubba"? Where did these names originate? The proliferation of "B" names (I just noticed that as I typed this up) and two first names seems to be concentrated in the southern states.. whats up with it? I don't know anyone with these names up here in Canada..

Oh, and names like Asia, Candy, Cherry, Sherry etc.. Nobody outside of the south calls their kids these names.. I'm sure there are names that nobody in the south would call their kids that people up north do. If so, what are they?

Matt (Qboots and all our other "U" users...or any other regional dialects)...
Please don't spell check and remove the different spellings. I love the letter U too. I'm born and raised in USA but I still spell rumor "rumour"...I don't care what Webster says! I love reading about the place's you all live and the use of your phrases, dialects. That's what makes you..YOU!! Don't change it just because we Americans spell it different. We love you just like you are...weird spellings and all

Matt, your Coke story cracked me up. I would be the same...huh? You want Coke and you mean 7 up? What have ya'll been smokin'?

Okay, I'm not from England...so I have no idea if this is accurate, but I have a friend who just came over to the states a few years ago. Here in the states, the word "fanny" is describing your butt, gluteus maximus..you know, the place that you sit on. In England (according to my friend) "fanny" refers to a body region on a woman...uhmmm...just in front of the butt (this is a G rated site..so can we say vag? ..oh never-mind...I'm not gonna say it, but some have written monologues about it). Anyway, when my friend got to the states she just about fell over when she saw advertisments in stores for "fanny" packs.

Lol.. don't worry.. I wont let the spell checker change my Canadian English. I just use it to correct my actual spelling errors.

Yeah.. I really couldn't figure out what the hell they were on. I suppose it's the same thing as calling a "tissue" Kleenex though.

We don't have diet." and they were all like "but we wanted 7-up" and I was like "but I thought you ordered Coke" and they were like "yeah, we wanted a 7-up Coke" and I proceeded to stand there with a very confused look on my face, and said "so, you want me to mix the 7-up and coke?" and they were like "no, we just want 7-up" and I was like "uhm, ok" and I walked away, brought them their 7-ups, and when it was time for refills they all said "we'd like refills of coke" and I was like "7-up or coke?" and they were like "7-up". It was VERY confusing until later on they explained that all pop is called Coke.

Nah , I don't think they were from GA- they were from "Stupid". We do call all soft drinks "Coke", but if we're asking to be served one we ask for it by the name brand, Diet Coke, 7-Up, Dr. Pepper, etc. Otherwise how would anyone know what we wanted.
Example:
Queenb: Matt, it sure is hot. Wanna Coke?
Matt: Sure!
Queenb: OK, what kind? I have Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke and Sprite.

Weird, huh?
