I hope it's okay that I start a new thread for this. As some of you already know, I got married two Saturdays ago and have promised to share my wedding pictures with my FORT family. Initially, I thought I'd post them in the "What do you look like?" thread but the sheer volume of pics (couldn't choose...) justifies a new, separate thread, I think. If the mods disapprove, feel free to merge this with the appropriate thread.
So. Sitting comfortably? You might want to get yourself a cup of coffee or - why not? - a cocktail while you're at it.
The first few pics are from my hen night. Seeing how we chose to have our wedding 500+ miles from Stockholm, I didn't expect to get one. Boy, was I mistaken. Right after my immediate family had arrived for what I thought would be a quiet barbecue, three black-clad figures with disturbing masks showed up and dressed me up in a not-so-glamorous attire, blindfolded me, boozed me up and got me into a car. The destination?
... why, a stable, of course! Yep, this lapsed horse lover got to drive around in the deep, dark woods. Tons of fun!
Afterwards, we joined the barbecue where our families bonded big-time.
My sister, aka the bridesmaid, and yours truly. I'm looking pretty relaxed for someone who's about to get hitched, don't you think?
My imaginary daughter and I. Technically, she's my husband's cousin's youngest daughter, but I like to think of her as my own daughter. We're really close.
Happy families!
Happy bride-to-be and not so happy future father-in-law. (Technically, he's my mother-in-law's new boyfriend.)
My (then) future husband and the two main women in his life. Why the sour face?
Moment of truth...
... then relief. (The "you may kiss the bride" pic isn't uploaded yet, but I'll post it later if I dare. My husband has wandering hands, and apparently no fear of God.)
The ring.
The flowers.
Climbing aboard the beautiful boat that took us to the party. BEAUTIFUL scenery! Also gave us a chance to be on our own, relax and enjoy a glass of champagne.
Upon arrival, I was escorted by my new husband and younger, incredibly tall brother to join the festivities.
The cake.
More posing...
Cutting the cake.
Our first dance as newlyweds. The song? "At My Most Beautiful" with R.E.M. We'd already been serenaded to the verge of tears during the ceremony, when one of my husband's closest friends performed "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave and "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young. Mandatory stuff when two music geeks unite.
That's it. Hope you enjoyed this little peek into one of the happiest days of my life so far. I might post more pics eventually.
