What's the point of this?

I just learned about this last weekend, from my Dad. I don't recall how long ago it first appeared, but I do remember it was at least a month or so ago.

A neighbor of my Dad's, who lives at the end of the street, drives an eco-friendly hybrid car. The owner of the car has expressed their political opinions and environmental concerns via a few bumper stickers. The owner of the house next to this hybrid car owner painted a line, on the public sidewalk, right where the two properties divide. Inside this line (on the "painter's" property), they painted an arrow, and the initials "USA". They did the same thing at the other end of their property, again on the public sidewalk. Another line, another arrow, and another "USA". Huh?, I said.
While they were painting the sidewallk, they should have painted themselves a Hopscotch grid, because that would fit right in with their maturity level.

I'd like to report the "painter" for public defacement, but I think the owner of the hybrid has chosen to pay the painter with too much time on their hands no mind. Good for them.

The trippy thing about this story is the owner of the hybrid car is Leonardo
DiCaprio's Dad!

And... what kind of hybrid vehicle? Toyota or Honda? Considering it's Leo's dad, it's probably a Toyota Prius.

There's a HUGE faction of people that are anti-foreign cars as they're hurting the American economy. I'd imagine that's where the painter neighbor is coming from.

Yes, the arrows point inward, in the direction of their house.
And yes, it's a Prius.

The neighbor is free to come from wherever they choose, but
they are not free to deface public property.

It's so stupid, that's was my point...that I couldn't see the point.
I get the motivation behind it, but not the response.

I understand I think it's pretty childish, too, and agree that public property is WAY off limits. I wouldn't hesitate to report them.

I think he should be reported, defacing public property is a no-no. Kids caught tagging have to spend time cleaning up graffiti, maybe he should, too.

I don't understand why people that may have opposing views can't be mature enough to respect those views held by others.

I have a friend here with a political bumper sticker. Her car has been defaced and vandalized in PUBLIC parking lots because of that sticker. It's her right to have it. It's against the law to vandalize her car.

Get over it people. We don't all have to believe in the same things. That's what makes this country great and its what it was founded on: Freedom to believe what we want.

I say report the idiot. It is NOT all right to deface public property. He can express his views in his yard with a sign, but NOT on a public sidewalk. AND he can only have the sign if his subdivision doesn't have deed restrictions. If their is a homeowners association in this neighborhood, I'd report this guy to it as well as the police.
