Using vinegar on fire ant and wasp stings is awesome. Fastest relief I have ever had from those pesky critters. The vinegar does sting for about half a second, then all pain and itching is gone.

We've always used vinegar for sunburn and insect stings. I have found that apple cider vinegar works better for the insect stings than white vinegar.

I also use vinegar in my laundry for my husband's stinky work clothes and towels that start to smell sour.

If you're working with jalapeno peppers, to get the juice off your hands or at least to minimize its effects, "wash" your hands, or at least your fingertips in oil. I've used vegetable and olive oils and both seemed to work much much better than soap and water.

Just a note of warning for those who have been doing that.
On Food Detectives it was said to put a WET sponge in the microwave for 2 full minutes to get rid of the bacteria. Wet being the key word. A dry sponge will catch on fire.
