Have you met anyone on-line in person?

    Hi all

    Well, I'll go first.

I did. A guy from England.

He came over here for 3 weeks after we'd talked for over a year (nice bill he had)
I was just divorced and a single Mom.....we met playing chess on the internet.

He was a great guy. A single Dad of a daughter my daughter's age.

I did not have feelings for him though....no chemistry.

    Blew
    my
    family
away!! They really liked him.....(except my kid) who likes no one I'm with or may be with......
    I ended it
but, it was not a bad experience.
    Anyone here????

ulfmann, I'm still not sure if all this is an act, or if you're actually serious :

A friend of mine met and married an internet girl, and they were married for 8 years. She went on after the divorce to marry another internet guy.

I've met friends from on-line when I've been places, but not romatically. Just to get together at a restaurant for dinner or a bar for a beer. It's kind of fun.

I'd like to meet the mod squad one of these days. It'll take a little work, considering they're scattered.

a lot of people meet in bars........
    that can be worse.
I talked to this guy on the phone for over a year before he got a flight in from England.
    At that point,
he'd sent pictures, candy (gotta love England for their chocolate)
and had conversations with my 5 brothers.....
I think a lot of people meet sooner.....
I was just bummed there was no chemistry.
    Not for me anyway.
I'd rather meet someone on the internet --slowly --especially a year's time
    than in a bar..........
you get to know someone very well I think through letters, every holiday
etc. than one night out at a club which is what I had been used to.
I think one needs to be very careful no matter where you "hook up" with someone.......
    :nono never talk to strangers!!!!

Ulfmann, I think that sounds wise. Anyone has to be careful when meeting someone they met online, and especially young ppl with less life experience. In fact, I wouldn't recommend for anyone under at least 18 too met someone they've met online, unless they bring a parent (or other grown up) with them.

Just noticed that this was my 2000:th post! me!

I agree, it is wise to be extremely careful when meeting people online.

I met my current b/f online. We've been together for over a year now. Super nice guy. Like I told my daughter at the time - hey, anytime you meet someone, you're taking a chance. Just use common sense and don't put yourself in a risky situation.

I met my b/f through a dating website - so I knew his annual salary, job, the city he lived in, what he looked like, what he was looking for in the way of a relationship, his opinion on animals, kids, smoking, drinking - TONS of stuff that meeting someone at a club, the gym, the subway, wherever - you'd take weeks to find out.

I have met three or four different people on the net that live around my burg, no one for anything more than to say "hey" face to face.
