wow, a lot of you have met people from online. There is a guy I'm talking to from Belgium, and I think it would be interesting to meet him, maybe next year.

I dated several women that I met online. I met my wife online. We've been together for 4 years, married for over 3, and have two terrific kids!

I do have to admit though that some of the people I met online were a little nutty when I met them face to face.

Like John, I'd love to meet some of the folks I've met here. Of course, I already knew Paulie, so he doesn't count.

~= I'd be very scared to do that, because he might rob or molest me.

Sounds like a senisble approach for someone that young .

I did! A friend I met online was traveling thru my state on her way to Florida, and we arranged to meet at a restaurant. I took along my husband and kids, and she was with her husband and 4 sons. It was really nice to meet them all, as I had heard so much about them. My kids and her kids had a great time, and I hope we can do it again someday.

I have met many people in person after meeting them online.

I met my husband online and then in person 6 years ago. We have been married for 5 years now and have two children.

While meeting my husband was easily the best case scenario, there were other meetings that did not go as well. Nothing tragic, just akward. Some of the meetings went on to be friendships that lasted years.

Best advice: Meet in a public place that you are familiar with. Take some muscle with you. Only meet if you are over 18. Better safe than sorry. I would rather look silly and over-cautious that stupid and dead.
It occurred to me that no matter how bleak things might seem at times, at least I have a head. ----Stargazer

I think that's very good advice, Feifer. I didn't even have a computer when I was single, and don't know if I would have had the nerve to meet a guy that way myself, but I do have an uncle who met his wife online, and they are such a cute and happy couple.
