I said to him in my true sarcastic form "Do I look like grandma to you"? Without skipping a beat he looks at me and says "Well, kinda". That little face and the innocence of the response sent my husband into hysterics. I never asked him that question again.

I woke up this morning not feeling too well and reading this made me laugh despite my headache. Thanks!

Re: Cutest things you've heard your kids say

My nephew was giving me some funny moments over the weekend. This is the second year that my sister has used an "Elf on a Shelf" for him to get ready for Christmas. If someone is not familair with it, it's a little elf that you sit around the house and it is supposed to "watch" the kids in the house during the day, then while they sleep at night he goes back to the North Pole to tell Santa how the kids behaved, and then returns to a different perch the next day. Well my nephew's "Elf" appeared Friday morning. After a few hours, he and his cousin were fighting. He hit her, and then announced he was going to tell the elf on her. I sat in the room and listened while he walked over to where the elf was, looked at it and said "Elf, Maddie was mean to me. She wouldn't share her toy. Tell Santa she doesn't need any more". Then he came back to where I was, and I told him it was not nice that he'd hit his cousin. He told me he would not tell me the elf's name, because he didn't want me to tell on him.

LOL...that was cute. I've never heard of "elf on a shelf" but with a new niece, I'm sure an elf is in my future.

Elf on a Shelf is the bomb! You can find them in most book stores or specialty toy shops. It comes in a box with a book that tells the story of the elf and lays out the rules for him -- you have to give him a name, can't touch him, etc.

I, too, have never heard of the Elf on the Shelf but it does sound like a great idea. That's pretty funny. My mom would have loved that. When my sister and I were younger, if we were fighting, she'd threaten to call Santa's hotline at 1-800-DIAL-SANTA to report our misdeeds. All she had to do was say those words with her hand on the phone and we'd go from screaming at each other to pleading, "No, no, Mom, we'll be good! We promise!"
