I'm more scared of tornados or hurricanes than earthquakes. It may be because I've grown up in California but the idea of something being able to pick you up and throw you miles away scares me far more than an earthquake that only lasts at maximum 45 seconds. The Northridge quake in 94 was very scary and lots of structures were down including an apartment next to ours.......it just doesn't seem as scary to me as a tornado.

My sister lives in Mexico and was awoken this morning by a 5.3 quake.

This website is very informative about recent quakes worldwide. Latest Earthquakes in the World - Past 7 days

Way south in Oaxaca. If you look on the earthquake map, it is where the coast of Mexico flattens out to east-west.

Thanks veejer. Our family is near Guadalajara so I'm sure they are doing ok.

On another note: Mr Buglover has decided he wants to plant some gardenia bushes and was under the impression they need full sunlight.. .I said no honey, they require indirect light for a few hours or they'll burn. He didn't believe me, went and bought two bushes and right on the tag it says indirect light! I love when I'm right!

when i did the jury duty earlier this year, i was excused for half the day and i had to go back to work afterwards.

I LOVE gardenias. I love the way they smell. I would love to be able to buy Chanel's gardenia perfume, but at 100 bucks, I'm better off just buying some gardenia bushes myself.

Buglover, since I am never right, I am happy for you to be right about something. We joke about it here, but it always seems that I am always wrong about stuff and hubby is always right. (and it gets frustrating). However, when I do occasionally get something right (as my husband says: even a blind hog stumbles across an acorn occasionally), I do the Dana Carvey, Church Lady superior dance.

I just got my notice to report to jury duty next month. I will let my boss know, since that means he'll have to cover for me! I know he won't so I might not have to serve.

MRD, We just have to know in our heads we are always right!

My favorite thumb ring which I haven't taken off in 8 years broke yesterday. It just snapped on the side and to get it fixed would cost me more than the silver is worth. I feel a little nakey right now without it. Going to have to search again for the perfect ring. Sigh....

I hate that feeling, buglover. I used to wear a baby ring halfway down my pinky - for years! Then I lost it and it drove me crazy.
    Count your blessings!
