We set ours to 76 and lower it to 74 at night because none of us can stand to sleep hot.

We don't actually turn our A/C on until the outdoor temperature is about 35c (95f) and humid. It only stays on at night if the temperature inside the house is 25c (77f), and again, humid. Otherwise it's too difficult to sleep. Otherwise we just use a fan and move slowly. And we never, under any circumstances, leave it on while no one is home.
All I wanted was a 45, a stinking 45 - the record or the gun. I'd even settle for the damn malt liquor. - Al Bundy.
I leave my a/c on 72 all the time. I still use very few kwh because I bought a new super efficient unit. I do try to save resources where I can--don't even usually have lights on in here except one at a time after it gets dark outside, but will not apologise for keeping my itty bitty shack cool. I hate heat!

72? Wow! I keep mine on 78, and at 76 it was like a meat locker in here! I'd probably be in winterwear at your house! I'm with you, as usual. I hate heat and humidity!! My neighbor just shakes his head because I tell him that I hate summer.

Duxxy- I can't imagine a 15yo doing such a thing, well yes I can BUT he really needs a hard lesson so I say sue him.
We keep our a/c at 72. And I have the bills to prove it unfortunately.
Back from the casino. I won $125! First machine I put a dollar bill in and won 25. They were also having a promotion for new members getting a 25$ credit so that was cool too. Mr. Luckybucks (aka DH) didn't win at all today. We had a great time.

I keep it between 73-75 always.. Since even when I am not home, the stinker is, and I don't like leaving my windows open.Originally Posted by prhoshay;3118394;

I leave mine at 75 for the boys like gabriel. I usually set it and forget it for the summer. Same thing with the heat during the winter only it's at 68. Occasionally I open the windows on a nice breezy cool day.
My parents feel the same way. 72-73. Perfect for sleeping, since I like to be cool when I sleep, but during the day when I am at their place, I usually have a sweatshirt on in the house, since I freeze.Originally Posted by queenb;3119080;
I only wish I could set my a/c to a specific temperature, but the unit looks like it's pretty old (I have central a/c in a rental apartment), and beggars can't be choosers. So far, I've only been using it at night when I sleep.
Like Rattus we only turn the A/C on when it's hot and humid. I would expire in a house that was in the 80s all the time. We set the A/c at 74 during the day and we open all of the windows and turn on the fans at night. I work at home during the day with 6 little bodies so we have to be comfortable. There is nothing more miserable than an overheated, over tired child!
Newf having that child work for me would be the absolute worst idea because I'd work him like a serf. I don't really want him in my presence but I'd sure like to whoop him.
As for suing the parents - you can't get blood from a stone, it would be a waste of time and more money on my part. It's just the little revenge monster in me rearing it's ugly head. I'm still stuck in the 'how dare you!' state of mind. Seriously, if I could get away with it and never get caught, I'd smack that kid so hard in the back of the head, his eyeballs would rattle.
