Any self respectin', Ah say any self respectin' southerner will tell you you've got to have sweet tea with greens and cornbread. It's the nectar of the Gods!

I'd be a bad southerner. I like iced tea with lemon, but I don't like it sweet!

oh delicious sweet tea how i love it so. That was one of the best things about my visit to Texas. I miss sweet tea. Since I am lazy and I hate waiting for sugar to disolve in my iced tea.

Mr. Doxie and I just spent the last four days hosting his parents (from California) and his brother/SIL to be (from NYC). We gave them a true taste of every Southern food that they could dream of. Grits, collards, fried chicken, bbq, sweet tea, chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and on and on. They had biscuits every day too. This was the first time that his family had met my family and that went well. As much as I love Southern food, I don't want to see another biscuit for awhile!

Doxie, glad things went well and they got a real taste of the South.

I am a Southerner and I don't drink sweet tea. I got out of that habit about 20 years ago. I like my tea with lemon. But I do on occasion drink it sweet usually with BBQ.

But I do drink coke (diet) and that most definetly started out as a Southern drink.

I think I would LOVE some sausage gravy and biscuits this morning. After reading Doxie's list of foods, I'm HONGRY!

About that wine--if you just must have wine with your Southern meal, how about Muscadine wine--that's pretty hillbilly, and tastes good too.
I have found the Truth and it doesn't make sense.

I forgot that here they serve Scuppernog wine. Scuppernog grapes grow wild around here.

We used to make grapefruit wine in Florida. Talk about NASTY!!!!!

I honestly think from what I've seen here that most people just drink PBR (not me, I can't drink that swill. I prefer Blue Moon or at the least now, a Bud Light). PBR is the "house" beer of several establishments around here. That should tell you something.

I "grew up" on PBR-on a hot summer day, I don't care about the brand-just let me drink a cold one!
