Here's my complaint for the week. A child molester was convicted and is only being sentenced to 3 friggin years! 3!!! Seriously? What the hell is wrong with this state? An old lady friend of mine is being put away for 5 years for renting a house to a known drug dealer and by association she is being convicted but this guy is getting 3 years for molesting a child? God I hate this state. In Nevada, you're put away for life......here, it's almost a slap on the wrist for violating a child. I'm writing my congressman, not that I think it will do any good. And just last week a known petifile was found at a local library using the computer to look up kiddy porn and they found duct tape, rope, all kinds of stuff in his van. This world is really going down hill IMO!

Well. We had another quake at 10:30 this morning. 3.4 this time. There have been at least 7 other aftershocks.

It's the talk of the town. I just got back from lunch and everyone was swapping stories about where they were and how it happened.

Thankfully, it looks like no one was hurt, and there really isn't too much damage. Some trailers off their foundations, Historic New Harmony had some damage to their buildings. Not too bad.

I'm still a little "off". It was not the best way to wake up. Imagine someone grabbing your entire body and shaking you hard, but when you wake up no one is there.

My poor kitty girls. I can't imagine what fits the big aftershock has sent Chloe. She probably wont' come out of my closet.

You know, it sounded like thunder. I'm sure that didn't help.

I was awakened to what I thought was a frantic attempt of one of my "gurls" to get out of my son's closed up room. It was so frantic, I thought that she had gotten trapped in there and really had to go to the litterbox. I jumped up and rushed to his room, opened the door, and there was no movement. Since I was not fully awake, it took several seconds to realize that the rattling noise was continuing. I looked down the steps and there were 2 little round heads with pointy ears staring in my direction. So then I thought maybe it was the wind blowing strongly through my ever open windows....but there was no wind. I never felt the tremors, being only half awake. I climbed back in the bed and turned on the television. That is when I learned about the quake. No damage here, but the newspeople were very excited! The local news was on all morning, in place of GMA and shows like that. I failed to see the excitement, since virtually everything was OK. Gimme a break!

We're so used to earthquakes here I don't even give it a second thought. I can imagine what it's like if you don't normally feel the earth shaking! Glad everyone is doing ok.

Earthquake? There was an earthquake? Scary! I'm glad everyone is ok. We haven't had any of those up here and I'm thankful for that! I would think that because pets are so sensitive they would sense it almost before it happens and become rather uneasy.

Harmoj: Nice to see you! Love your kitty av.

buglover: I can't justify what the justice system does these days. It's definitely crazy how criminals are being let off with easy sentences. I feel bad for the police officers who keep trying to put them away, and then the judges let them off with short sentences.

An elderly couple who went out for lunch at a buffet place not far from me were just getting into their car, when a transient guy on drugs attacked the husband and killed him with a knife and then ran off. No words were exchanged, nothing. The couple was celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary.

prhoshay: I hope your gurls are ok after that scare.

    What I learned today:
I had a problem today with toast. Well, bread actually. I learned that bread put into a toaster doesn't toast unless you push the lever down. Bread, now positioned properly in the toaster doesn't toast unless you plug in the toaster. Bread, once toasted, goes dry and scrapes the roof of your mouth, when you forget that it popped and sat for awhile. Even after you put jam on it. Toast, with jam, still tastes good with a hot cup of coffee.

It amazes me how silly the newscasts can get. I mean, do we REALLY need 24/7 coverage of EVERYTHING??? I mean, gosh, back when I rode a dinosaur to school, we actually only got 30 min. a night of news. The rest you had to get the newspaper in the morning for!

Glad everyone is ok, just a little "shook up".

Miss Kitty, I was at your toast story. I did that recently with the crockpot. It really helps when you turn it on AND plug it in.

Buglover, that is CRAZY. The system needs work. In Florida they have passed a new law, but a child had to be killed first for it to be passed which is sad. But it is a minimum of 25 years if convicted.

"Gov. Jeb Bush signed legislation that beefs up Florida's laws concerning child sex abusers as the father of nine-year-old Jessica Lundsford, for whom the law was named, looked on.
The Jessica Lunsford Act provides a minimum of 25 years in prison for those who prey on children under 12, and if they are released from prison, lifetime tracking by global positioning satellite.

Remarkably the bill was passed unanimously by the Florida House and Senate just one month after the body of Jessica was found March 19, thanks mostly to the efforts of her father Mark Lunsford and an outraged public.

"This bill will make our laws even tougher. I think it is right and just," Gov. Bush said."

Here in Ventura we have a DA who literally won't prosecute unless it will boost his ratings/career. It's so flawed it's insane! I can't wait to move out of this state!! 4 more years (my stepdaughter is moving back here so we're going to wait until she's of age before moving).

I know -- little shakers are nothing! (The big ones upwards of 7.5, the ones that break freeway bridges and topple buildings are another thing, but a little shake, rattle, and roll? ) I'll take a little quake over the Wisconsin tornadoes any day!
